How to become a better football player - Learn From Top 2021 DB Recruit Wyatt Grisell
(I could write a book on how to play DB from this footage)
As we begin to add more names to our recruit rankings, I cannot find a better example of being able to show what a college coach looks for or should be looking for in a Top 2021 FB recruit. Athletics can bring you far in this game, but there will come a point when other players with the same skill set will learn the proper technique to play the position they are in at a even higher level then before. Learning for some athletes is difficult and some can even be taught the improper techniques that I am seeing much of in our game today. Wyatt Grisell made a lot of plays on the first film I evaluated that is after his current tape from his freshmen year. I got to see a young man who was very disciplined in his technique for such a young age, as he seemed to always be in the right place at the right time to make big time interceptions for his team. I knew the mental capacity of many would not be able to handle the fact that Wyatt was going to become a Top ranked 2021 recruit, but that was my decision and I am here to tell you how young men like Wyatt Grisell make top flight defensive backs at the next level.
Top 2021 DB Recruit Wyatt Grisell aka Grizzy has been making plays all of his life
I can't stress more how important it is to keep getting better in every film your produce, as in our S.T.E.P ratings, we use key factors like (U) Upside and (I) Intangibles, which is boiled down into in simplistic terms, getting better daily. Grisell has a very solid foundation at home to help build his house, as I got to speak to his father about the type of structure and knowledge he has passed on to Wyatt. Mr.Grisell is a high school football coach himself and was a stellar three sport athlete and you will see what a well coached DB looks like in his son's stellar knew sophomore year tape below. On the first two plays of Wyatt's Sophomore highlights, you will see a vast improvement in his quickness and see how "Grizzy" likes to get physical in bump and run coverage. He is able to stay in the receiver's inside pocket on the first play of his tape and then is able to make a very keen play, while showing off his block shedding ability to shut down the wide receiver screen play. Grisell is a very "pliable" player in the fact that his back pedal is very fluent and demonstrates perfectly "flight feet" in his footwork when making his decision to break on the football. Wyatt is a stand-out tackler for a defensive back and can be seen flying downfield on kickoff, while very easily avoiding defenders to make the tackle. Once again, at 1:04 into his footage you will see him shutdown the widely used wide receiver screen and make another great form tackle, which is able to take away the runners base (legs). You will see Grisell be very disruptive on the next few plays in the passing game and once again is in perfect positioning to make a play on the football. He shows very good ability later in the film, at around 2:18, to leave his zone coverage once the ball is thrown and is able to break quickly up to the underneath route to make yet another beautiful form tackle. More below film.
Wyatt Grisell proves to be a powerful return man
I can't say enough about the technique shown in this young man's footage and how much I respect the coaching he has received overall. That being said, the kid is also an exceptional athlete, as he is bursting at the seems with energy when returning kicks. At 2:28, you will see Grisell flow through traffic on a kick return, only to appear to be stopped in his tracks, then shows his very powerful running style and carries a truck load of defenders for another 5 yards. You can point out the fact that Wyatt is only 5'7 and pushing 140LBS currently, but you cannot deny the brilliant caliber of play that is exhibited in both his freshmen tape below and his new sophomore highlights above. This is a true testament to the home tutelage that Wyatt is receiving, and he obviously is able to take that knowledge and replicate it on the football field, which is a true testament of where this recruit's overall potential at the next level. It appears they try and block Grizzy with a linebacker out on the screen pass, after his powerful return, but Grizzy said he is having none of that in "Grizz Territory". Even on the next play, Grizzy is able to get the ball carrier for a loss in the backfield, after avoiding more –much larger– defenders. I am very excited for the future of this young man and the future of Nevada High School Football, as it is very hard to find young men that are receiving this kind of knowledge fromthe mental and technical training that players like Grisell are receiving. I look forward to following the progression of Grizzy intuitively, as he is no underdog in this format, but a rising recruit that will thrive under the right kind of pressure that produces refined diamonds at the end of the process.

You guys can all learn from each other, take the time to study who does what good and who needs to work on certain areas technique wise. This game is not a game of inches, but a game of tenth's of second. We test if you can achieve this standard of play in events like the 40 yard dash. If you can improve 2-3 tenth's of second with perfecting your start and overall technique, you can learn other techniques on the field that will rapidly enhance your overall play. Remember, there are always new methods arising that can be detrimental to your overall career and play on the field and there are the proven methods that have been used for centuries to dominate opponents. As Coach Saban says, we must all make CHOICES, that will produce the final outcome.
CHARACTER IS THE ABILITY TO CARRY OUT A RESOLUTION LONG AFTER THE EXCITEMENT OF THE MOMENT HAS PASSED
Scout Trout & College FB Today staff have predicted the final fate of many in the world of College Football and we won't be stopping anytime soon. Check out our Top 25's that are released on Saturday (FBS) and Sunday for all other levels, unless we get called to help the legend Coach Frost get his first win and it was epic to say the least.

Top 300 ATH Recruits are all linked to either recruits Hudl, Report or media outlet that justifies them as a ATH Recruit.
#47 RB/S - Tra Ranson - Sikesville HS (MO) - Tra Ranson was last year's Scout Trout All-American Bowl Class of 2019 MVP on the defensive side of the football for our events and reminded me of a young Kam Chancellor in the way he attacked the football. Tra was able to produce one of the top combines nationally heading into his Jr season and has since been moved to the running back position, which was able to show Ranson's overall athletic abilities on the field on the offensive side of the football. He excels in the return game and simply is always one of the best athletes to step on whatever field he takes. Tra accumulated major D1 interest over the off-season and we expect good news for him during this recruiting process, as he has earned everything that he is going to attain.
#49 APB/DB - Seth Johnson - St.Clouds HS (FL) - Seth Johnson has been playing lights out all season in the slot and as St.Cloud's premier go to back. Programs like Southern Miss came by and had verbally offered Johnson heading into his senior year and he received a official offer from D2 Urbana College in Ohio. Where Tanner Rickle had also received a offer and this tandem would be extremely scary if they got together on the gridiron. That being said, both of these athletes were graded out extremely high for a reason and I am extremely excited for their collegiate futures moving forward.
#59 QB/S/WR - Zayne Guthrie - Addison HS (AL) - Zayne Guthrie reminds me of Coach Frost in the way he plays the football game at a high level on either side of the football. He also is able to maintain excellence in all aspects of the game of football and, in our opinion, is the top QB/ATH in the entire state of Alabama. Guthrie has the attitude and demeanor of a Carson Wentz and leads by example daily, on and off the field. When it comes to the game of football though, I can't find many that can escape pressure and dance 80 yards to the end-zone like Zayne Guthrie.
#66 FB/TE/OLB/SS - Jimmy Bates - Vancleave HS (MS) - Jimmy Bates graded out as the Top FB recruit in the Class of 2019, because of his stellar ability to execute in all three phases needed in the game of football at an extremely high level. Jimmy also produced one of the nation's top overall combines and was able to run a 4.47,40 yard dash multiple times in a camp setting. Jimmy also possesses remarkable route running ability that may be used at the H-BACK/TE position and/or as a wide receiver. Bates also can play at the OLB/SS position for a defense, as he reads plays very quickly and uses his outstanding athleticism to get to the football. He is a great blitzing back and also shows brilliant play on special teams. You will not find to many as versatile as this top 2019 FB Recruit.
#69 WR/OLB/SS - Cameron Dyer - Seymour HS (TN) - Cameron Dyer is one of the best players in the state of Tennessee and showed outstanding skills as an OLB on tape, which is not his primary position. With a great athletic frame, Dyer is able to dominate on the offensive side of the football as a wide receiver and could even fit, as an H-BACK or TE moving forward. He shows he has improved in many facets of his game since last season and will continue to grow into a top tier football player at the next level. Dyer has received multiple offers thus far and looks mightily prepared for the next level.
#86 DB/WR/Returns - Jalin Lake - Briggs HS (OH) - Jalin Lake was the top shutdown corner at the Scout Trout 2019 All-American Bowl and excelled in every area on the football field. When I flipped on his tape, I see more of the best concentration in the nation in being able to make the immaculate reception, time and time again. I am telling you, flip on the tape and you are going to wonder how in the heck he catches these passes. It's out of this world!
#93 QB/WR/S - Nate Downing - Hirschi HS (TX) - Nate Downing has led the Huskies to yet another phenomenal season and shows the ability to operate a college style offense with precision. Nate shows he can throw the football extremely well in his footage against Gainesville HS (TX) and he also operates as one of the best free safeties we have seen with his very high football IQ. His acceleration is extremely tough to gauge as a defender and he does an extremely good job in letting his linemen get to their assignments, before hitting 5th gear through the hole. Downing defies expectations daily and is one of the best overall athletes we have found out of the great state of Texas.
#96 DB/WR Dashawntreas Jones - Mt.Tabor HS (NC) - Dashawntreas Jones is another spectacular athlete on the football field whose S.T.E.P score has steadily improved over the course of the season. Jones is a weapon in all facets of the game, as he can line up on either side of the football and shows uncanny abilities on special teams. With some of the best tackling ability you will see out of a CB in this class, he has the ability to turn into a Honey Badger-type of threat for a defense at the next level.
#124 LB/FB/RB Levi Thomas - Orrville (AL) - Levi Thomas is one of the toughest linebackers I have witnessed on tape and had a great overall combine for 6'0,225LBS at the 2018 Scout Trout All-American Bowl this past season. Levi has since dominated his opponents in nearly every facet of the game and looks ready to take on the world of college football, as a humble, but exhilarating force on the football field.
#139 DB/WR/Returns - KJ Macatiag - Kahuku HS (HI) - KJ Macatiag plays football in Hawaii and is one of the best Defensive backs technique wise you will watch on tape. He shows outstanding coverage ability and also can be seen flying up to make perfect tackles. I watched KJ also operate as a tough running slot back for Kahuku, and he also excels in the return game. He proves to have an outstanding attitude overall and will be an instant contributor to whatever college football team that decides to bring him into their program.
#259 WR/OLB/SS - Jabryant Bradley - Blount HS (AL) - Jabryant Bradley is a dynamic player who took visits to Auburn and South Alabama over the off-season. His big and athletic frame makes him an outstanding Wide Receiver and OLB with the overall athletics he possesses. I really like him back over the top of my defense to shut down anything these high octane offenses try and trick us with.
#291 WR/DB/Returns - Mikey Delgado - Oak Hills HS (CA) - Delgado is an electric return man and dynamic slot receiver out of California and his outstanding new footage can be seen by clicking the link on his mini rankings profile.

Why is Daimarqua Foster the #1 Recruit in our S.T.E.P Algorithm?
Proverbs 27:17 - "Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another." If there was one year I have contemplated coaching a group of players, this is the Class I would choose to lead into battle. ![]()
When I took Psychology at Central Connecticut State with a outstanding professor, I got to do most of my class hours at the local YMCA. I would work at a after school program and write reports on how the inner-city kids interacted with one another. Being able to identify with this later down the road and by using scriptures in the Bible, and other older references. I was able to come to the conclusion that these kids just needed the proper tools and guidance to win in a world that only wants the brightest and the best. I have learned you cannot study humans in a academic environment and I believe Professor Conway knew this fact, as well. This is why he sent me into the concrete jungle, because he knew guys like me would never come out. He knew that I had the ability to change not only my own mental thought process, as I was knocked around quite a bit as a kid. But I also had the power to change the mind set of others, to help propel them to new heights. Challenges to me are the ones most think are impossible, because their own mind limits them to the expectations of man-kind, not the expectations their heavenly father bestowed upon them. Not all of us believe in God and everyone has been given a reason not to, in the social climate we live in today. You cannot fake who you are anymore in this world, it is too easy to unmask.
So, my studies of Foster showed immense character and stability with his teammates and others. He has fans at schools the Huskies play against, because he is an extremely nice person to be around. He handles himself extremely well when interviewed and has the academics to match. Daimarqua will often be seen handing out water bottles at the JV games and no matter what he has done on the football field, these outstanding qualities continue to shine through. My teams won a lot of games when I was a player, I only remember losing three games in my entire professional indoor career. This key trait is only found in the best of the best athletes, like Dan Marino, Doug Flutie, Emmitt Smith, Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan. The issue with Lebron James is that he never builds anyone up around him and is just looking to match pieces so he can continue to be a super-star. He also, rarely defends his own teammates in the heat of battle, which is far from the fire that guys like Allen Iverson showed. As I stated before, Foster reminded me of LaDainian Tomlinson and had flashes of Allen Iverson all through his Texas HS Football record breaking season. Top 2019 QB Recruit Rankings Mid-Season Update

When I developed the S.T.E.P ratings program used at College Football Today to rank college football recruits, I took into consideration many variables that are proven factors for being a dominant athlete at the next level. While many of these factors include football related activities and game footage, we also combined academics, community achievements, awards and over 100 other variables that pertain to excelling at the next level. Having been doing this now for over 10 years, as I always helped my brothers move on to bigger and better things during my own playing days. I realized many are not making it because they are lacking in one area or another. Justin Schiets not only performs outstandingly as a Linebacker, but he is an exceptional student and enjoys uplifting others in his community.
Top 300 2019 LB Recruit Justin Schiets sets the standard of what it takes to be a Scout Trout All-American
2019 Top 300 LB Recruit Justin Schiets' film does not lie
So enough with all the stuff that's on paper, let's talk about what this top ranked 2019 LB recruit can do for you on the gridiron. As seen on the very first play in his highlights below, Justin has outstanding quickness when blitzing from the MLB position, as he has a verified 4.7 40 yard dash speed. Schiets beautifully disrupts a read-option play coming off the edge on the 2nd play and proves to be able hold the edge very well throughout his film when needed. You will not find to many LB recruits in the nation with a 4.65 GPA and an ACT score of 25, across the landscape of college football recruiting and Justin proves to just as smart of a football player for Toledo Central Catholic. Justin is seen barreling through blockers once again on the very next play and is able to once again get to the QB extremely quickly for the sack. On the next run play, you are going to witness him fill the hole extremely keenly, as he diagnoses the play immediately and uses his outstanding athletics to pummel the ball carrier to the turf. You will watch one of the best pass rushers on tape I have seen at the MLB position this season very often in this film and extremely good overall tackling technique. I am really impressed with Justin's agility and his ability to cover sideline to sideline, as he is able to change directions extremely quickly to either avoid defenders or track down ball carriers.

As I check mostly all of our social media accounts, I have nothing but great news to report, as all Scout Trout athletes are performing at very high levels across the landscape of High School football. Most of these athletes that have signed up recently have heard about us from High School coaches and teammates. They are also performing well on the field and in the classroom, as we have begun putting our rosters together for the 2019 Scout Trout All-American Bowl at Couch Field - Alfred J Loos Athletic Complete in Dallas,TX. We have been highlighting high school programs across the nation in our attempts to enlighten the nation to the success of teams over a certain period of time. The TEAM OF THE DECADE, suffered their second defeat of the season to Decatur HS (TX) and throughout my 30 years of learning and playing this game at a high level, I have learned sometimes the ball just does not bounce your way. When you compare yourself to College Football teams, there is a reason top FBS teams schedule such weak opponents to fill their schedules. The Huskies did not do that this season and played a 6A opponent, where they nearly defeated and play in a very tough district in Texas HS 4A-4 Football. This team was nominated last year for Scout Trout Team of the Year and beat some national powerhouses in our voting contest. We highlighted more of why they won this award on collegefootballtoday.org.

On December 19, 2008, the Centennial Huskies defeated the De La Salle Spartans for the California State Championship.
Six years later in 2014, the two teams would face off again. This time, the Spartans would top the Huskies following the release of When the Game Stands Tall about the Spartans’ 151-win streak from 1992-2003. The film received a whopping 20% on Rotten Tomatoes and starred the beloved Laura Dern, but it also prompted the team to be ranked the No. 1 high school football team of all time. The Centennial Huskies have held the title of League Champions for 8 straight seasons and are on track to claim the title again this year.
