Intro

I have tried to keep all of this about the young men that are aspiring to be College Football players and even NFL ball players. In essence, I have learned a lot about who I am and where I have been throughout the process. This program is not simply data that was collected. After somehow surviving the worst "sitting duck" hit of my career against the New Mexico Stars, I decided to take the gloves off, so to speak.
A few weeks before, I hit the first ever 4 point drop kick in a game and the game before that, and was able to dominate as a Middle Linebacker. This program was built squarely from years and years of persistence and dedication to the game that I fell in love with at such an early age. This program was built upon looking into a young man's eyes and realizing he has exactly what it takes to succeed, but also that nobody else in his general locale realizes it. I have come to a conclusion that they have merely failed to recognize this young man, more so these days, because of the false reality that has been created by our world when it comes to sport. The unbridled glorification of athletes has led to more than 75% of them being flat broke within 3 years after retirement. Why are we not teaching them how to be smart businessmen and functioning cogs in the societal wheel? Which leads me back to many other false realities that have been created, like how tall or what weight a player needs to be at a certain position for recruiting purposes. I have proven that there are multiple scholarships still available after signing day just waiting to be claimed.  If you are a great player that they did not know about, these offers will likely roll in, and have for our other athletes all the way up until August!
Once all of the pieces of my program started to come together, I realized I actually could accomplish my goal of getting every student athlete in my program a scholarship. I also realized this program could be extremely helpful for all athletes after football or other endeavors and possibly even save some of their respective professional lives. I cannot see a better way to live and give back to the game that gave us so much for so many years, than successfully furthering the future of our game and passing along our knowledge/life experiences to our valuable youth and future, athletic and otherwise.

80% are Broke

Our Purpose

"If not you, then who? If not now, then when?"

Picture
If you are lucky enough to find you purpose early on in life, than you are one step ahead of most people I have met. I am learning more and more each day that there are young men out there who are simply playing football to "GET OUT". This is where I must go back to the "Broke" statistics that is occurring on a large scale in sports today. So basically, you're going to get out and then circle back to the same place you started. That does not make logical sense and those thinking along those lines, will largely fall by the wayside.  Utilizing football to get to College and obtain an education, while learning valuable life lessons and finding your purpose, would be the ultimate goal in today's world. I have learned it takes special individuals to make it in the world of sports and you must have passion for what you are doing. I have witnessed too many failures first hand in the football business that were mostly in the indoor game at first. Now I have studied the intricacies of College Football recruiting and all of these recruiting myths that have been created by people who are shamelessly capitalizing off of these young men's dreams. These people, I am now learning, are actually across the board despised by 75 percent of College Football Coaches. I have also learned that providing something more effective for both sides of the aisle (Coaches AND Players) is the only way to truly combat the hypocrisy that persists in my beloved game.   My program is not a scouting service of any kind, we intend to keep our reputation pristine, by giving every player on our team the mental/technique/training edge needed to earn every penny of their respective scholarship and then some! Our Regional Mini Camps are up and running and we have spring-boarded these hybrid intellectual combine/camps to further build on our current elite athlete's recruitment and effectively and successfully assist in making him a instant contributor at whichever institution the student-athlete ultimately attends.

Elite Coaches/Mentors

A Real ProFessional

Picture
A real Pro has a vast knowledge of how he accomplished what he did, in my opinion. If you can portray to someone else and get them to replicate what you did, you have serious skills. The only time I lose my mind is when I don't know the "why", so I dig until I find what I am looking for and end up knowing the "why." You can find most of what you need to know these days if you search hard enough. Some people you have to analyze because they won't verbally give away their secrets, those people are scared of losing. Then you have those who can't lose and the reasons tend to be vast. We all have our strengths in athletics, but making our weaknesses our strengths, builds complete ball players that rarely can be stopped. Most do not know the "whys or the hows" at a early age, yet some clearly have the advanced coaching/knowledge and are light years ahead. In a game/world that is ever evolving, if we are to not get left behind, we must constantly be studying all of the fine details to not get passed up.  Taking my athletic drive into the business world also helped me create this amazing program that produced amazing results its first year. Developing a daily routine that would work around my workout schedule was very easy and I have been able to get loads of work done. If you're an athlete/sports guru, looking to get into the business side of sports, feel free to contact me for a newly formed program that allows you to train your way to being a Regional Scout and setting up your own scouting team.

We have every school in our database that offers athletic scholarships and get contacted daily now for recruits. I have assembled a team that cannot be beaten when it comes to being well respected across the landscape of football. My program gives you a legit shot at every school in America and was developed/ran by former College/Pro Ball players, who lived through the process. Our relentless nature to achieve our goals as a whole are unmatched and is the reason for our impeccable results. College coaches also know that we will have you mentally/physically prepared coming into their programs and obviously value our reports. If interested in joining our team of elite Coaches/Mentors/Athletes feel free to contact me at merfdigg@aol.com. Once again thank you to everyone involved with the formation of the Scout Trout Pipeline Program, it has been a huge success and we are more than optimistic about the next generation of Scout Trout athletes.

Ramsey Sites comes to us from Oak Hill High School in Oak Hill, Ohio and is going to be a joy to watch this up and coming season, after his amazing performance from his Junior campaign. The first thing that really stood out to me was this young man's motor and quickness for such a big young man. Ramsey can be seen chasing down ball carriers a good 40 yards downfield, after battling it out in the trenches. On the very first play of his tape, Ramsey is seen getting off the ball quickly and gains instant leverage with his initial "punch". He is able to find the ball carrier and make a very sure tackle in the backfield. The very next play, Ramsey is able to fight threw a obvious holding play and persevere all the way to the Quarterback for a SACK! He shows very good moves on the inside and can utilize the spin to disengage from offensive linemen. As a Guard, Ramsey is very light on his feet for a big fella and I love the way he FINISHES his blocks, being able to serve up pancakes all day for the masses. Ramsey is also able to scrape down the LOS very well and push his way into the backfield, to ultimately create havoc in the backfield for ball carriers.  I really like Ramsey on the offensive side of the ball as well, as he is remarkably quick at pulling and getting to the second level. Ramsey is a monster in the weight room and has posted a bench press of nearly 300 LBS, while cleaning 300 LBS and squatting 484 LBS. He has posted a 4.7 shuttle and a 5.6, 40 yard dash. Ramsey will be attending our Columbus Ohio Regional Mini Camp April 29th, where the top performers from 2018 and 2019 will be invited to our Scout Trout Reese's Senior Bowl Week Elite Prospect Showcase in Mobile, Alabama! Thank you Mr. John Sites for signing your son up for our Ohio Regional Mini Camp and I look forward to meeting you both!

Intro to Combine/Mini Camps

Picture
I was honored and fortunate enough to host three prime time mini camp/combines, that were able to ultimately produce scholarships and let the athletes true abilities shine through. Two of my Quarterbacks had stellar arms, but were stuck in an ancient offense (The Wing-T) and never got the opportunity to throw the football. I was able to break down the fundamentals of the college passing game for my Quarterbacks and all 5 are now going to school on scholarship, to play QB at the next level.
In consideration of the staggering fact that QB's are very limited and the sobering statistic that only 6% of HS athletes receive a scholarship to play college football, our 100% placement success is quite remarkable, as evidenced below. We offer intensive combine training that has shaved up to .5 seconds off of our prospects 40 yard dash times, Shuttle and L-Drills. We show prospects the proper technique for the broad jump and vertical using our in-depth knowledge of the combine process. After all combine related events our completed, we then break up into position groups and begin our position drills/chalk talk sessions.

 Mini Camp Football ACTIVITIES

Our mini camps are a great way to showcase and develop various aspects of your game that might have gone overlooked in the total "Team" aspect of Football. For example, Tommy Hochheimer is one heck of a slot receiver, but we would have been unable to show this without our college style passing system that we incorporate for our backs. Tommy has been offered by FCS Wagner and just visited Northern Arizona and had an epic recruiting trip. I recently clocked Tommy at a 4.3, 40 yard dash and he is a sponge at absorbing our intense coaching. We use 1 on 1, 2 on 2 and 7 on 7 concepts to show off the totality of our prospects skill sets. For our 2017 National Combine Series, I have planned position group competitions as well, like my coveted Hog's competition, which will see who really likes to move men against their will. Here is a positional breakdown on how we evaluate players here at Scout Trout, in addition to our valuable and priceless football intuition. Also, check out our coaches section, which includes the great Sherman Williams who played for the Alabama Crimson Tide (29 TDS) and won a Super Bowl with the Dallas Cowboys!

Senior Bowl 2018 National Showcase - Mobile ALabama

Picture
After we conclude our 10 designated Regional Mini Camps, we will compile all prospects highlights into Youtube videos and than conduct scouting reports which are sent to every College in America. To date, not one athlete has failed to receive return mail/interest from a football program yet! I will be conducting showcase articles on success stories throughout the week that I am thoroughly proud of. We also send ALL of your information like your HUDL accounts and all of your contact information. If you choose to opt in to the every evolving PLATINUM package with us, your profile stays updated with game updates and in the off-season WORKOUT VIDEOS! College Coaches love to know that you are working relentlessly at perfecting your craft, as we teach here at Scout Trout. I got to hold my Senior Bowl mini camp in Mobile Alabama this past January and I was able to meet so many amazing people, such as Coach John Fox of the Chicago Bears! I also ran into about half of the Major D1 Coaching staffs and was spreading the word about Scout Trout's "Pipeline Program" and they were thrilled at the concept! I am so enthralled to be announcing that our 10 regional camps will lead to the 2018 Senior Bowl, where the TOP College players are being scouted by the NFL!

Every athlete wants to compete at the highest level, it is ingrained in our blood and we strive to be the best. Categorically, I have found if you can somehow replicate the best in the game and tweak things to best suit your skill set, you just may have a much better shot. If you are going to talk about it, you may as well back it up and be about it right? So I was able to scout the Senior Bowl this year with all 32 NFL teams by my side. What did I learn? I learned that if you want it badly enough, you can wind up playing in this amazing event after your completion of your collegiate career. Working diligently on and off the field and developing a process will be key. You can read about how to define your process in a previous article I will link below. My players this year got to experience a College style atmosphere and had a fabulous time out on the bay. This will be our Main Event that you will have to qualify for in a Regional camp/combine and will give you a glimpse of what it takes to make it to National Football League. I hope all athletes that are aspiring to play College Football can make it to one of our Regional Mini-Camp/Combines and if you have any questions feel free to contact me at Merfdigg@aol.com. As always, we will be tweaking the model for ultimate success and incorporating mental tactics used by the GOATS of the game.

Defining your process and the Application of your process.

Intro

When you first are able to find your passion and now have decided this is where I want be, you must now figure out the process on how to achieve these goals. Nothing great in life ever comes easy and those who think they are "owed" something, tend to dwindle away very quickly and are working desk jobs. Somewhere along the line they lost "The Process" and decided that they were either content with where they were and/or they lost the drive needed to succeed in that field. From having been around this game so long, I once forgot my process. I had forgotten what made me great and was content on not evolving into something different. Through vast studies of the human brain, which were experienced first hand, through some pretty bad concussions, I came to realize that this is the part of the game most guys are missing. Some simply never were taught the proper mind control and you can tell are reckless players who also carry that off the field. You can master all of the training in the world and become a athletic freak, but if you cannot control what you have, you will find yourself lost in the vast wilderness of life after football. So let's define YOUR process, so we can avoid what you think is a catastrophe.

Defining Your Process

Picture
Every individual is born completely differently and is made up of thousands cells that work together vigorously to make us function. I found a exert to back up my very OBVIOUS conclusion, from constantly studying people in general and kicking/playing through concussions. I have also have signed with 19 pro teams up until this point, so I have gotten the chance to meet a extremely diverse selection of people, most I call friends. Here is what www.ScanBerlin.com had to say about "The Athletic Brain'. "First of all, mental processes that need to be taken into account for top performance accomplishment in sports are, for example, motivation, selective attention, goal setting, working memory and decision making. All these processes also happen “between our ears” – in the command center in our head – and contribute to our performance in various ways.
Second, and this might often be overlooked, our brain controls motor execution as well. When bending your leg to kick a football or stretching your arm to dynamically dive into water, the respective motor areas in your brain are active and constitute the cause of these actions7."
What exactly does this mean in let's say, Football talk! Well, as you can see they mention a portion about kickers, but let's start at the top and go through the examples given. The first one has to be the easiest to train and that is motivation! If you do not have the motivation to put in the work, then I would go find something that actually motivates you. For example, I have found that some kids parents are dictating the entire process to their respective children, when maybe that is not their true calling in life. Delaying finding that true calling is not in the parenting handbook, in my most humble opinion. Some kids are just not built for the sport of Football and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. But once we find that motivation, we must maintain that motivation every single day, by any means possible. We must wake up every morning trying to master every fine detail, in order for the big things to come to fruition.

Secondly, they mention selective attention which the definition is :  "
the capacity for or process of reacting to certain stimuli selectively when several occur simultaneously." Basically this is stating you have multiple things occurring on the field at once, like a running back having to make a quick decisive jump cut, to avoid Ray Lewis. Only to find out that was the wrong stimuli response needed and have to go back to the drawing board, after laying flat on his back. The running back's selective attention was not up to the standards it needed to be and the synapses did not react quick enough, to the reaction. I would think that Quarterback's would have to have superior "Selective Attention", because of all they have to compartmentalize very quickly and decisively.

Goal Setting is a tricky one because it appears to me that everyone has the same SUPER STAR goals, but fail to set small goals to make the larger dream a reality. This is where developing a everyday "process" can really start to change your outlook. We must conquer our fears and find a way to make our weaknesses our strengths in this game, or you will be devoured. Why? Well, as I stated above, everyone and their dog wants to play football, at a high level. So do you think they are sitting around watching the NCAA basketball tournament all day, or are they breaking down every fine detail of their respective film, to achieve greatness? Are the proper hours being put in to the intuitive training that is constantly evolving today? What good is that Masters degree if everything has changed and you were left behind, in the dust, with a piece of paper. The best I have met at their profession admit that they kept learning everyday after they received that piece of paper. We should never stop learning or evolving, for the simple fact or fear of being passed up.

Working memory is the ability to juggle things in your head, and the ability to solve problems while shifting through them. This also would play a HUGE role in most athletic situations, because we have a lot of problems on the field. For example, a linebacker in blitzing and gets cut blocked, only to get picked up by the fullback and somehow solves that problem with a outstanding swim move, after regaining balance. This is solving the problem in a very quick synaptic way and using your supreme athletic prowess to the max. I have a great article to link about the "Athletic Brain" and also on why "Working Memory" is so important in sports. Here is a exert from axon potential. “Our study shows that both the slot and pool models are true,” says Miller. “The two hemispheres of the visual brain work like slots, but within each slot, it’s a pool. We also found that the bottleneck is not in the remembering, it is in the perceiving.” That is, when the capacity for each slot is exceeded, the information does not get encoded very well….
What is so interesting about these findings is that they can be used to great effect right away.  It is rare that neuroscientific research is so immediately and broadly applicable.
“The fact that we have different capacities in each hemisphere implies that we should present information in a way that does not overtax one hemisphere while under-taxing the other,” explains Buschman. “For example, heads-up displays (transparent projections of information that a driver or pilot would normally need to look down at the dashboard to see) show a lot of data. Our results suggest that you want to put that information evenly on both sides of the visual field to maximize the amount of information that gets into the brain.”
"The application to sports can be immediate as well.  Let’s think about a football quarterback.  A quarterback with an average working memory capacity can accurately keep track of and make good decisions about four receivers at a time.  This research implies that receiver sets that space receivers more evenly across the quarterback’s visual field could optimize his working memory capacity, and possibly make it easier for him to find the open man or make good decisions.
On the other side of the ball, blitzing defenses might use the strategy of overloading one side of the quarterback’s visual field, with the knowledge that it will be nearly impossible for the quarterback to keep track of each defender, due to the limitations of working memory and perception.
This knowledge has huge potential to inform play design in football, basketball, or any other sport where manipulating player position could be used to create an advantage based on exploiting the weaknesses of our brain’s working memory capacity.  It is just one more example of how neuroscience is opening doors for the thinking coach and athlete to gain an advantage."

Decision making is crucial in sports and our brain handles all of that, including all of our motor function. When Aaron Rodgers drops back to pass he must make use his quick synaptic readings and quick release to deliver the ball to the proper destination. He obviously has trained his brain to make the proper decisions, while firing his muscles to make the proper reaction, to push the ball down field like no other. So how do we become like Aaron Rodgers? Or like Adam Viniteri? Or like any other amazing athlete in the sport of football? We find a way to master their process and tweak it, to make it our own.

Creating Your Process

Picture
So now that we know a little about how we cognitively function, how do we master these skills? Football is a game of inches and sometimes life comes down to one decision or another, that ultimately effects our final destination. The trickle effect in life and sport is so significant, I can relay story after story of studying the superior athlete. Studying my actions to reactions off the field was not fun, but I had to learn from my mistakes if I was going to attempt to coach in the game I love. Studying my actions to reactions on the field always made me smile and I then realized I had to become more mentally sound. If you know me, I do not do anything at even 90 %. I have such a high motor that is sometimes difficult being a kicker. But that process is being mastered through mental training and diet. So we must all create a everyday process, in order to achieve optimal success on the field and master the 5.5' golf course, Bobby Jones spoke of back in the day. My process started in my Bible and trusting in my lord and savior Jesus Christ and mastering his process first, which is also a ever evolving process. Each process is going to be different and figuring out the why's and making necessary corrections are vital for optimal growth. So first you must find the right source of knowledge to train "smarter not harder" and maximize your full God given potential. Simply put, no one will have all of the answers, but I do have a lists of GOAT coaches at every position at hand. See success is something most people think is given out freely these days and while participation trophies are at a all time high, so is the hypocrisy. So we must earn every accomplishment/opportunity on our own.

In Conclusion

Picture
There is nothing better than having a great coach around to help you master those fine details that only their eye can see. I have been working with the great Sam Watts and have learned so many valuable lessons here in Arizona. I feel as if he is truly the best at accessing a kicker/punters technique and then fixing it. He will make sure you hit your full potential as a specialist and truly cares about the individual in a Christ like manner. This I obviously value and am extremely elated to be able to work with such a outstanding coach overall. I see a very high ceiling for him as a coach as well, with his deep knowledge of the kicking game and once again, I am honored to be here with him in Phoenix Arizona.
I get to meet (for a 2nd time) the great Gary Zauner tomorrow, after getting to catch up on the phone today. Coach Zauner is a historic NFL figure who was the Special Teams Coordinator for Baltimore Ravens for 17 years! He is gracious enough to throw a free agent kicking camp that offers a chance to be seen by the NFL and CFL, here in Phoenix Arizona. These two men are successful because they have MASTERED their process and it clearly shows.
We must all find our "process" and "calling" in life and once we do, we must maintain a regiment to keep it moving in the right direction. The regiment can be tweaked or totally overhauled if need be, but you must form a daily routine and stick to it. When your practicing the right technique over and over, you can make those synapses fire properly in your muscle structure. If you are practicing the wrong technique and developing bad habits, your going to have difficulties re-wiring the system. All in all, nothing is going to beat hard work and diligence, but fixing technical issues does not take pumping iron or running laps. It takes knowledge of the right technique and a "smarter not harder approach", to make these muscles fire the proper way. Now I have one question for my athlete's at Scout Trout and that is what are you willing to sacrifice to be a GOAT? How much time, energy and commitment do you have? Let's really test that motivation factor and see how bad you really want it? It's a dog eat dog world and we must learn to overcome, conquer and trust the PROCESS! Once again thank you to everyone involved with Scout Trout Enterprises, you are all greatly appreciated!

Nick Channel 6'1, 197LB Class 2018 ATH Mt.Carmel Catholic HS (KS) - New Prospect Report

Nick Channel is a dynamic athlete out of the state of Kansas, who has been clocked at a 4.5, 40 yard dash and a 4.02 shuttle, for the class of 2018! But those numbers are very easy to see in his film, as he plays fast and also demonstrates great hands, coordination and balance. He has already attended Junior days at Kansas and Kansas State, while maintaining a outstanding work ethic in the classroom with a 4.2 GPA! Nick also recently was able to score a 28 on his ACT! Watching Nick on defense, he can be used in many ways at the next level. He obviously makes a great roving strong/free safety, as you can see him in man to man coverage on the slot receiver, the first play of his film. Nick obviously has very natural ball instincts and athleticism when you watch him break on the football and make interceptions. With 95 tackles on the season, Nick also shows he can play up in the box, which makes me believe he could also transition to a outside linebacker role, at the next level. On the 3rd play of Nick's highlights, he makes a very nice interception and is able to keenly stay in bounds. The very next play, Nick is able to get over the top nicely in deep zone coverage and make another amazing interception. Nick is instantly in the backfield when his name is called to blitz and when he arrives, mayhem ensues. The first play of Nick's offensive highlights, he is able to make a great leaping grab across the middle and take it all the way for 6! Nick runs very solid routes and is able to push the ball down field, with his great run after the catch abilities. Nick was also very effective in the run game this past season for Mt.Carmel and averaged nearly 5 yards per carry. He shows a very tough style of running that is capable of producing big chucks of yardage, at the next level. I really like this young man's overall skill set and I believe he is going to be a unique prospect for the Class of 2018, in the respect to being able to fit in so many different positions, at the next level. Thanks for joining the Scout Trout family and we look forward to working with you to achieve max results in the recruiting game.
