2019 LB Recruit Brett Gross will be a leader in the middle of any defense

Brett Gross is an extremely quick and athletic student-athlete, who also has the ability to bench press 225 X 15 and you will see that strength very visibly in his highlights below. When at the LB position, Gross is seen quickly diagnosing plays and is able to use his vast football knowledge, combined with his outstanding overall athletics to get to the football in a hurry. On the first play against the national powerhouse Bergen Catholic, Gross is able to pick up his first key in reading the strong side pulling guard and is able to take on the fullback, while maintaining leverage to force the ball carrier inside to assist on the tackle. If you know football, this is the job of the LB who reads the play first and you always know that you got a fullback coming next. This also ultimately will leave one defender free to go make the tackle, as the QB normally is not accounted for as a blocker. How he is able to pick up on the next play really shows this young man studies the film of his opponent in the prior week, as he is able to sniff out a shovel pass for big tackle in the backfield. Most linebackers at this level will gallivant unblocked and go all out for the QB sack, but not Gross, as he is like a canine when it comes to sniffing out this type of trickery.

2019 OL Recruit Brett Gross is extremely quick at getting to his assignment

I love using glorified guards in my "Power Pistol" attack that is now by no coincidence being widely used across the landscape of college football. Some are installing it properly (Cu Buffs), and some just are not getting what is needed at Power FB position. Well, you are looking at proper Power Pistol below, as Gross is exactly what I look for personnel wise for this position. His 5'11, 225lb frame that can bench press a small house--but also is nimble enough to get out on flat routes and other combinations--is the center piece needed to completely torch a highly active "next level" defense. I learned these techniques first hand, as I watched the best defensive line ever to suit up get manhandled by Navy's much smaller offensive line. Most of these schemes involve linemen like Gross, who as you can see below never stops his feet from moving, until the pancake or assignment is completed. He also is arguably one of the quickest linemen at effectively getting to his blocks, which can be attributed partly to his stellar intellect of the game of football. Watching him pull on the second play of the Archbishop Spalding highlights below, I see Russ Grimm, who was my father's roommate at the Jackie Sherrill Coach Pittsburgh Panthers. An unknown fact about the Hall of Fame NFL O-Linemen is that he was a High School Quarterback. He went on to grow a bit and used his knowledge of the entire game of football to coin the phrase he made famous below. I happen to agree more with Russ than my father these days, as playing LB myself, I love being an enforcer like Gross has become on the football field.

Watch 2019 WR Recruit Robert Ricucci exhibit some of the best agility, in one on one match-ups

Robert's highlights below are quite fun to watch, as he shows outstanding overall agility on the opening play with a amazing spin move. Operating out of the slot position, Robert is able to set his defender up to the inside, after catching the swing pass and uses a quick spin to get to the outside to gain yards up field. After catching a nice TD up the seam on the next play, Ricucci is seen making a crucial block for his team that is able to help spring his back into the end-zone for a score. Robert makes a nice snag over the middle on a crossing route and then is able to once again show his outstanding strength when engaging on his blocks, as he pancakes the defender. Robert also plays free safety and can be seen holding on the second to last play of his highlights, along with contributing on kickoff return. When you look at the student-athlete and not the 0-6 record that his team has started with this season, you will see one of the most elusive runners in the nation. Getting him the ball in the open field will be a lot of fun to watch at the next level and hopefully they find more innovative ways to get this outstanding athlete the football early and often. Jake Deluccia is one of the top 2020 ATH recruits in the nation

When I first evaluated Jake Deluccia, I found a long snapper with some of the best times nationally across the board. As I have been checking up on his performances, he proves to be a superior athlete on both sides of the football and as you got to see above, some top tier NCAA programs have started to recruit Jake Deluccia. Jake has excelled up to this point on defense, as he has made 24 tackles and has shown great instincts at the linebacker position for a 2020 recruit. On the defensive side of the football, Deluccia can be seen below using great overall tackling technique and shows great quickness in his ability to meet the ball carrier in the hole or in the backfield when blitzing.. Jake is able to scrape down the line of scrimmage with his outstanding overall strength and detach from blockers, while showing he can cover sideline to sideline for you on the defensive side of the football. Jake is seen around 2:45 at the H-Back/TE position and is shown running a beautiful out-and-up route, resulting in a beautiful catch for a touchdown. The next play, Joe shows he can catch the ball in traffic and is able to secure what appears to be a back shoulder touchdown, which proves Jake and his unit are well coached on modern day college philosophies. Jake shows that he can also be used as a sledge hammer fullback, around 3 minutes into his mid-season highlights, as he can be seen blowing out the defensive end on a QB power play. When it comes to versatility, Deluccia so far is unmatched in the class of 2020--a major reason why he is being recruited so heavily from the start. Deluccia and the rest of our Scout Trout Elite recruits will continue to excel on and off the field, as they know that everything they do now matters. Every year this time approaches where we have to make difficult choices that will reflect the final outcome of our destinations. On our end, this butterfly effect now effects millions across the landscape at the next level football. The methods I use as a coach are the same ones I used as a top K recruit coming out of high school, as I was knocked down by others time and time again in my hometown. I had to transfer 4 times (Dad was a missionary bush pilot after the NFL) and dealt with eligibility issues, after being the first player on Varsity at Washington Township High School in New Jersey. I had arguably the best coach in the history of South Jersey in Coach Tom Brown, who was borderline ruthless in how he operated his program from top to bottom. I dealt with politics and was even choked in a state playoff game by my own OL coach, who said he was in camp with the NY Jets in 8th grade. After experiencing a near death experience in a car accident my sophomore year of high school, I found myself on home school hospice after being in a coma. I transferred my Junior season and hit some long field goals, only to wake up the #2 kicker in the nation on Rivals.com. My Senior year was one to remember, as I got to do everything I ever had wanted on a football field, until we found out I was ineligible from not having enough "core classes" to positively bring my weighted GPA to the necessary score. I spent a year of Prep school at Hargrave Military Academy with Coach Robert Prunty and many other future NFL stars, along the way it was here I realized my full potential as an overall athlete. Why? Because I was told to stick to kicking, as that was my easiest path to the NFL. Playing for another high energy coach like Coach Prunty made me realize how much of a man's game this really is. I then became the hardest hitting free safety you would ever see at that level. I led the team in interceptions, after being ridiculed by the offensive coordinator time and time again, all while living in a strict military environment. This environment not only made me read my Bible everyday in a attempt to find a deeper connection with God, but also prepared me mentally on what it takes to succeed at the highest levels of college and pro football.

You are going to fail, everyone does, so conquering your fear of failure is step number one. Step two is figuring out the proper steps to not let it happen again. The thing I love about failing is the reward and satisfaction you get out of fixing the issues that caused the hiccup. My father always said if I kept my mouth shut I would have made it further, much quicker, but when you are failing because of instability around you, you must right the ship before all is lost. Remember, you must take care of yourself before you can attempt to take care or help someone else. (Thanks Maddy's Mom for that lesson).

Now being almost 30 years old, I made a CHOICE to coach young men in the most unique way. This style and philosophy exists in only in the best coaches in the industry today. These tactics were developed over years of FAILING and refusing to except that final outcome. Every single one of you can get better by defining your everyday process until the diamond has been formed. Simple psychology studies of the human brain and how it correlates and connects to your athletic movements, will show you how to master your full potential.
