Branden Alvarez has become a big time Prospect for class of 2021Branden Alvarez - A HAll Of Fame Type of Off-Season
Alvarez is the definition of what a hard working athlete is supposed to be. When you watch him operate at the NFL Hall of Fame camp below, you will witness one of the best up and coming slot receivers and athletes in all of the nation. Hailing from Centennial High School in Corona, CA, Alvarez and his friend Jonah Carnell have formed a unique bond as similar athletes in the same class. What makes this interesting is Carnell plays for Norco High School, which is right down the road from Centennial. Alvarez and Carnell traveled to camps nationally and dominated in a way that earned them a spot on my soon to be released College Football Today National 2021 S.T.E.P ratings. When you watch Alvarez operate out of the slot position below, you witness one of the cleanest breaks out of his "speed out" and then a miraculous catch that makes you wonder about how high this athlete's "ceiling" really is. With a remarkable running style as a dual-threat and down-hill running quarterback, Alvarez is the ultimate play-maker at the next level. Centennial has an extremely good football program, and I have seen Alvarez tweet out some big time prospects that are worth mentioning as far as Centennial Football is concerned. Quarterback Carter Freedland will look to find the likes of another Class of 2020 stand-out in 4-star receiver Gary Bryant. Isaiah Young will be locking opponents down as another rising class of 2020 stand-out student-athlete and also operates as a receiver. Leadership out of Class of 2019 recruits Armari Esclovon, DB Jayden Williams and spectacular defensive end Drake Johnson will be pivotal for the young and athletic Huskies to dominate once again in California High School football play. Maxpreps has the Huskies at #17 in all of the land and they are looking to make a major statement, as they are TOO DEEP, as the almighty Clemson Tigers proudly boast! Centennial resembles the Clemson Tigers in a multitude of ways, as they play fast, hard and are contenders nationally year in and year out. The last state title the Centennial Huskies were able to bring home under Coach Logan was 2008 and also won sectional championships in 2012 and 2013. With double-digit wins the last 4 seasons and with the talent returning for the Huskies, Coach Logan is once again set to make a deep run into the California State playoffs. With the way they build and prepare their younger players in this section of California High School Football, I believe there will be many more nationally ranked seasons ahead for Coach Logan, Branden Alvarez and the entire Husky unit. At Scout Trout, this year has been tabbed, "THE YEAR OF THE HUSKY" to pay tribute to some of the best Husky High School Football teams in the nation. Right now of know of two that are looking almost unstoppable in two of the toughest football states in America in the Hirschi Huskies of Whichita Falls, TX and the Centennial Huskies of Corona, CA.

Are NFL Ratings on the Decline?College Football Today's 86th ranked overall recruit in the NationNIck Silva is ARGUABLY the best football player in the state of NY
Nick Silva probably has the best body of work over the course of his entire career playing football than any other running back in the nation. He heads into his senior season with 40 total touchdowns for his career and has been shattering opponents hopes and dreams in the state of New York for quite sometime. As seen in the video above, a 10-year-old Nick Silva was a man among boys, and year after year defenses tried to find a way to stop this power back. To their dismay, Silva was able to break through tackle after tackle on his way to being arguably the best football player in the state of New York. Nick Silva is also a stand-out linebacker and could fit very well at a strong safety or outside linebacker role at the next level. Nick Silva was able to break the JV rushing record in 8th grade and has over 5,000 career rushing yards to go with his 40 scores. With Mack Driver looking like he is going to have another phenomenal season and Nick Silva prepared to light up the scoreboard all game long, I see William Floyd High School bringing home the state title if they work together as a unit. I want to wish Scout Trout All-American Nick Silva and the William Floyd 2018 Football squad the best this year as you embark on yet another memorable season in Mastic Beach, NY.
Class of 2020 All-Saban and Multi-Purpose AThlete Jared PIckens18th Ranked Class of 2020 REcruit in the Nation on TOP 100![]()
Jared Pickens is not a normal athlete for the Lebanon Trail football team, as throughout his career in games and workouts he has played tight end, center, guard, defensive end, linebacker and the best long snapper we have seen nationally. In addition to his diverse skill set, Pickens has been seen pancaking linemen almost twice his size and slinging nearly flawless short and long snaps over the summer at the U of Alabama. Jared also worked out as a tight end at the Asuza Pacific camp and ran very crisp routes, while showing off his great hands. After a great summer, Jared has received interest from Arizona State, Brown, Wingate and Central Methodist as a collegiate football recruit. Pickens bench presses an astonishing 185 lbs 39 times, and his overall strength is a major reason why he is such a force as a center and interior linemen. His long snaps have been averaging (.73) at camps and his fastest I have clocked thus far was a (.68) second snap. His short snaps are also very accurate and clock around (.25-..3) seconds from snap - to the holders hand. These are NFL caliber times and with his athletics, Jared can be seen beaming downfield and making plays after his perfect snaps. Pickens is one of those athletes who works daily at perfecting his craft and can be utilized in a variety of ways at the next level using his remarkable and diverse skill set. Versatility is key at the the next level, and when you can adapt as quickly as Pickens does at nearly every position on the football field, you also welcome a very high football IQ into your program. Jared will grow more inevitably as his work ethic and diligence produce lean, strong and very productive muscles. Jared is excited to have yet another big season at whatever position his team needs him, as he is the ultimate weapon as far as versatility is concerned. Jared and the Lebanon Trail football team look to follow Coach Sadd Jackson's leadership heading into the 2018 football season and mold together as a unit in training camp. If the Lebanon Trail team makes the right choices on and off the field this season, they will find themselves looking back at the 2018 season as one they will remember forever. I want to wish Lebanon Trail High School Football, Coach Sadd Jackson and Scout Trout Elite Top 100 Class of 2020 student-athlete Jared Pickens a great season in Frisco, Texas!

CJ Palmer rushed for nearly 100 yards a game in his sophomore season and is built to carry an offense as a work-horse/power running back. At 5'10, 205lbs Palmer can be seen in his film plowing through defenders, while also showing great agility and ball carrier vision. CJ is one of the best power backs I have seen in the Class of 2020. We are excited he has joined the Scout Trout Elite Pipeline program, and I am nominating him as a Scout Trout Class of 2020 All-American. After watching this young man battle through defenses with a struggling 2-8 Red Oaks team, along with his 3 touchdown performance that was combined with 250 yards rushing in one game. I believe the young Red Oaks team has a brilliant upside going forward as does CJ Palmer. We cannot wait to watch him progress this coming season in Red Oaks, Texas, as he also bench presses 300LBS x 10, which explains his remarkable ability to break through tackles. With slight improvements in his speed and agility, CJ will be a big time prospect moving forward into the 2018 and 2019 Texas high school football seasons. I want to wish CJ and the Red Oaks the best of luck as they prepare in August for what appears to be a new beginning for the Red Oaks Hawks football team, as they have one of the best up and coming power backs in the nation.
LIsten TO COllege Football Today Radio LIve on BLog Talk RadioWhat to Expect of out Class of 2020 5 star LB Gabriel Means and the NAvarro Panthers in 20187/30/2018 Class of 2020 Top 100 LInebacker and 6th ranked PRospect in Nation5 Star LB Gabriel Means A future Baylor Bear?A New Football Coach With The Same Means to a Title
Gabriel Means was just up at Baylor and once again ran a 4.6 40-yard dash at a Division One FBS-Power Five camp and was also grouped as a Top 10 linebacker with seniors and JuCo prospects. He will suit up again for the Navarro Panthers for his junior season, who went 11-2 last season and made it to the Texas State Quarter-Finals. Means was a big part of the Panthers' success last season and has been working extremely hard this off-season at big time college camps like Baylor (2x), UT Austin, UTPB, HBU, TLU, and Texas State. Gabe can be seen below at Baylor running a very quick 40-yard dash once again and shows great hip flexion in his zone coverage drops. With a new football coach at Navarro High School in Rod Blount, skeptics are lingering as the coach moves from 3A Mathis where he was 33-18 in four seasons to the much tougher 4A division. Luckily he inherits a solid nucleus built on a solid running attack and a ferocious defense. With stand-out class of 2019 linemen on the offensive side of the football like Wyatt Tate, the "Slot-T" offense that has been used at Navarro for years should be highly effective. With a more experienced and developed Means flying around on the defensive side of the football, the Navarro Panthers look to once again achieve a bid to the Texas state playoffs. Except this time, with a new football coach who is looking to leave his own legacy behind at Navarro High School. Coach Blount is a proven winner and it should be another successful season at Navarro.
Gabriel Means Stats for 2017
Scout Trout ALl-American Report #1 - A Means To A End
Gabriel Means was just at the Baylor Camp and was extremely impressive overall in his combine numbers, while also being able to show his ability in the pass coverage. As a Class of 2020 LB out of Navarro High School in the great football state of Texas. Means shows that he the ability to produce tackle after tackle in his film above and also the extremely high motor he possesses while taking nearly perfect angles of pursuit to track down ball carriers. Gabriel shows very good overall football instincts and as you can see on the second play of his highlights, can read and react extremely quickly to tackle the ball carrier in the backfield. In the next play the ball is thrown out to the flat and read quickly by the outside defenders. Means however, is in perfect position after he shows off his spectacular upper body strength when he completely unearths the oncoming blocker around the 50-yard line. His highly aggressive motor can be seen on the next play, as he uses his relentless drive and athletics to make a touchdown saving tackle at the one yard line! Means is shown taking on two blockers on the next play, as he obviously was able to demand attention in the state of Texas this year, as a feared middle linebacker. On this play, he is able to detach very well with extended arms and scrape down the line of scrimmage to make yet another brilliant stop for Navarro. Keeping outside contain is a key component to playing out of the "edge" of a defense and Means is able to demonstrate great leverage to be able to maintain outside contain on the next play. Gabriel is than able to use great athletics to bend back to help assist with yet another stop for Navarro. With more of the same tenacious play and intensity shown on the next few plays, Means is able to shoot the gap once again and cause mass chaos in the backfield, as he causes and recovers the errant pitch. When Blitzing on the next play, Gabriel uses great technique once again and makes the QB throw an errant pass that is intercepted by Navarro. Means is one of those defensive players that is making a impact on almost every play, as he makes his presence felt with his superior play. When not making a tackle, fumble recover or sack, Means will be found making a means to an end for the Navarro Panthers football squad.
JOhnny Taylor 6'2,280 LB OL/DL - sCOUT tROUT cLASS OF 2020 aLL-aMERICAN
Johnny Taylor and the Hirschi Huskies football team have a lot in common when it comes to overcoming adversity. Johnny had what was thought to be a career ending knee injury his freshmen season on varsity as the Huskies looked to rebound from a 0-10 season in 2015. In 2016, Coach Youngs relied on his philosophy of building from the ground up, as his freshmen and JV teams were loaded with up and coming stars like Lloyd Murray and Daimarqua Foster. Roman Turner, Gerrick Mckinney and Marquez Vrana were key components to the Huskies making the Texas state playoffs the following season and Coach Youngs overall design for the Huskies program started to take shape. Coach Youngs was responsible for helping many of the young men on this 6-5 Hirschi High School football programs find homes at the collegiate levels.
The COmeback of "The Trench MOnster" Part II
Hirschi Huskies Football 2017 (11-3)
JT was able to rehabilitate his knee and become stronger as an athlete to come back last year to help aid the Huskies to a dominating season in the talent rich state of Texas. Taylor is seen lining up mostly at left tackle in his film below and can be seen making key blocks for most of Foster's record breaking runs that made the TCU commit our #1 rated prospect in the nation. I have JT at Guard, not because of his size, but because he moves his feet very well for a class of 2020 linemen and appears to have the skill-set of a tenacious pulling guard. He fits perfectly right now as a Tackle at the high school level and is a "inter-changeable" linemen for the next level and the might Hirschi Huskies. Taylor is also a terrific Nose Tackle and get to compete daily with College Football Today's top class of 2019 defensive tackle Lloyd Murray, who recently took a visit to the University of Alabama. The overall competitive nature that I have watched Coach Youngs instill in the Huskies is unparalleled in high school athletics today and is a big reason the Huskies can inevitably hoist a Texas State Title this coming season. You can see JT's best blocks below and once again watch Foster and the Huskies offense torch the competition in the state of Texas.
The 2018 Hirschi Huskies
The Huskies were able to make a deep run into the 2017 Texas State playoffs and are heading into the 2018 season with two of College Football Today's top ranked 2019 recruits in Lloyd Murray and Daimarqua Foster. With College Football Today's 43rd ranked top 100 Class of 2020 recruit Johnny Taylor creating enormous running lanes for the likes of Foster, the Huskies are looking like they will be making another run deep into the Texas State playoffs. With the loss of the extremely consistent Martez Vrana at the QB position, the Huskies will look to fill that roll with the best safety from last year's team in Nate Downing. The Huskies will once again face fierce competition heading down the stretch and Scout Trout trained kicker, Jhaidon Duran will play a pivotal role in providing points in the clutch. Duran is automatic from 50 yards and in, while he also has the ability to strike from deep when given the chance. Duran made the Huskies hype video--featured above--and is the leader of the Huskies' special teams unit. With ice running through his veins and the state title on the line, I would bet on Duran to come through 10 out of 10 times, as he is the ultimate teammate and competitor.
The Year of the HuskyThe Hirschi Huskies - THe Year of Revenge
The Huskies should not have to be motivated by anything this season except the video featured of the highlights from last year's quarter final loss to Stephenville. Yes, the Huskies did better than the years prior, but they are too talented to lose by mistakes like fumbled punt snaps and sloppy play. Coach Youngs has been instilling more and more discipline in these young men over the off season, as I have witnessed on the Huskies Twitter. I believe if the Huskies can find a way to play mistake-free football and still take shots when mismatches present themselves, they will find themselves advancing all the way to the State Finals in 2018. The stars only align in this fashion ever so often, as they will keep in alignment if you ALL mold as a unit and play together for the entire 2018 season. I know why the Huskies play football and the history behind each and every program in the state of Texas. Yours is truly special, as you have been an inspiration to many, and if you remain diligent in your daily grind or "process", you will have a memorable season in Wichita Falls, Texas! Cant' wait to watch and report on the show and congrats on all of your success Coach Youngs and the entire Hirschi Husky's family! Now go get STATE!
The Hirschi Huskies will be covered by several of our Media outlets this fall! What to Expect out of 5 Star QB/ATH BRenden Tayor and THE Broome HS Centurions FOotball Team in 20187/29/2018 What to Expect out of 5 star QUarterback and 24th ranked prospect in the nation BRenden Taylor.
Broome High School is located in Spartansburg, South Carolina and Coach Fleming had a very successful season in his first year as Head Coach with a 9-4 overall record. Quarterback Brenden Taylor and the Centurions have been hard at work this off-season and Brenden looks ready for a record breaking season as he has the skill-set to produce big plays in all phases of the game. Not many can line up at QB and throw on the run like Taylor can, while also being such a weapon with his running ability. He reminds me of a national champion quarterback for the Nebraska Huskers whom I recently wrote about and current Head Coach Scott Frost.
With the ability to line up and dominate as a slot receiver, Taylor also could be a "slash"-type player at the next level and be utilized to create mismatches all over the field. The video below of Broome football in 7-on-7 this spring makes me believe this will be a very special season for the Centurions. We all know Brenden Taylor can run the football and is one of the fastest players on the football field. That being said, Brenden and his receivers look like they are in unison on route combinations, and Taylor is making great decisions with the football. His overall delivery looks very smooth and he shows outstanding arm strength in many of the darts he is able to throw into tight coverage. Brenden proves that he can throw the football while rolling out with pin-point accuracy and with great velocity. His throws to the sideline show he has a big time college football arm and Brenden is primed to lead the Broome Centurions far into the South Carolina state playoffs this season.
Scout Trout Report on Brenden Taylor as a ATHLETE!
Brenden gets in and out of his cuts beautifully going forward in his film and shows that he could also be a 4-star slot receiver or higher! That being said, when you watch Brenden roll out at 1:05 into this stellar footage of off-season activity you will witness why I ranked him so highly as a Dual-Threat QB! The ball comes out extremely smooth as usual and Taylor is able to sling the ball at least 50 yards down field with a flick of the wrist. The overall mechanics Brenden shows in his passing game is marvelous to see at such a young age and at around 2:30 seconds, you will see more of the "zip" that I am talking about. You will see another perfectly thrown pas at 3:00 minutes and Brenden once again is able to create a perfect arm angle and deliver a dime while rolling to his non throwing side. I am not a big fan of "speed ladders", as football is a game that is played while rapidly reacting to another action or actions. So having a ladder set in the same place will show how quick your feet are, but not prepare you for the game of football. What's more, Brenden shows extremely quick and precise feet, while proving he can also be utilized as a wide or slot receiver at the next level. Brenden shows perfect hand placement when catching passes, as he does not let the ball get to his body and can "high point" deep passes, saving pivotal hundredths of a second in being able to evade ball hawking DB's at the next level. I see Brenden as a potential Heisman Trophy caliber Dual-Threat QB, as he is one of the most elusive young men we have seen, but also possesses arguably the cleanest and most efficient throwing motion I have ever seen on tape nationally.
Original Report on Brenden Taylor as a Dual-THreat QB
Brenden Taylor is an electrifying dual threat QB out of Broome HIgh School in Spartansburg, SC, who also possesses stellar academics with a 3.87 GPA. On the first play of his highlights, Taylor is able to escape multiple defenders, while bursting right into the heart of the defense, only to use a brilliant spin move and is able to pull away from the defenders leaving them and his towel in the dust. Taylor has a very aggressive downhill running style that will suit many college football programs who heavily use the option game in their offensive arsenal. On the third play, Brenden is able to show off his arm and make a perfect back shoulder fade completion to his leaping receiver for a touchdown. On the ensuing plays, Brenden shows off his ability to create yards after contact. He keeps his legs churning to break tackle after tackle, showing the type of grit this young Class of 2019 Elite QB Prospect plays with. At around 1:45 into his magnificent highlight reel, Brenden is able to drop a perfectly timed fade route down the sideline, demonstrating the type of touch needed to excel in throwing receiver open at the next level. Taylor once again shows the ability to push the ball downfield, and his ability to throw while on the run, on the very next play and is able to drop another dime for a touchdown. In the three step passing game, Brenden shows a extremely quick release and throws the ball very accurately and on time. Brenden Taylor shows every characteristic of an outstanding college quarterback and has been nominated as a Class of 2019 early selection Scout Trout All-American. I look forward to watching him play this coming season and writing more about his fabulous upside for the world of collegiate football!
Brenden Taylor - A SCout Trout ALl-AmericanWhat to expect from 5 star ATH Clay COgswell and Simon Kenton (KY) Pioneers Football TEam.7/28/2018 College FOotball TOday's 44th top 300 ranked prospect in the nation
SK Football Mission Statement
Football is a game of Movement, Leverage, and Striking Ability– this is not a game for everyone– it is a combative, physical game only for a select few–for an uncommon guy with an uncommon commitment–“Hit”– it’s a simple game with simple rules– what makes this game so great is that it has every vehicle of life– sweat, joy, laughter, tears, humility, pressure, intestinal fortitude, responsibility, loyalty, and respect–Always remember this game is bigger than all of us–there will always be a great player– a great coach– a great team. The real strength lies in what I can do for the game– am I a better guy than when I came in–did I achieve the uncommon ability to sustain– not embark on being tired– did I possess the courage to demand and confront my abilities– weak or strong– so I always have a chance to get better. The real measures are hard, but lasting. The real strength of this game is you–so give the game your respect and love–for yourself and your fellow players. COach MarksBerrySimon Kenton Football and Coach Jeff Marksberry (54-33)
Coach Marksberry has an uncommon approach of loving yourself and your fellow players that has brought outstanding results for the Pioneers' football program. I was going to write about how uncommon you have to be to play this game at a high level and the daily sacrifices that you must make in order to be great. I love the questions that the Simon Kenton mission statement asks and the core winning principles that Coach Marksberry preaches. I now see why he has been able to coach super athlete Clay Cogswell into a 5-star, 44th ranked overall prospect on College Football Today's Top 300! Clay Cogswell has tested himself time and time again and without a doubt shows tremendous courage on and off the field as a total package student-athlete.
What to Expect from 5 star Linebacker Clay Cogswell?
Clay Cogswell is one of the best athletes playing at the linebacker position in the nation and his combine testing numbers speak for themselves. That being said, Clay is not just a "combine freak", as he put up great numbers last season with nearly 100 tackles, and we expect nothing less this season. Clay will be scouring from sideline to sideline with his ball-hawking abilities and will be making big time plays for the Pioneers' defense. Clay had one of my favorite head coaches Mike Leach from Washington State like his picture edit on twitter, that was attached to his initial Scout Trout report. We expect Clay to be on many college coaches radars as Cogswell is a Top 300 Scout Trout All-American!
Original Report on Scout Trout All-American Clay CogswellClay Cogswell is nothing short of an athletic phenom, and he translates it extremely well to the football field. Clay's combine numbers are among the top athletes in ALL of the United States and his unofficial 4.34 at 205lbs is remarkable to say the least. His agility is off the charts on the football field, as he is able to cover sideline to sideline and is very adept in defending the pass. Clay bench presses 225lbs 15 times and can really bring the heat when it comes to getting pressure on the QB as seen on the first play of his highlights above. Cogswell is able to read plays instinctively and shows outstanding acceleration and agility while arriving at the ball with ferocity. Every defense has that one player that is the "cog in the wheel" and Clay Cogswell is just that for Independence High School Football (KY). Clay is what I like to call an "instant contributor" at the next level, as not much development is needed physically and he excels on special teams. That being said, Clay will contribute at a very high level no matter what college program he attends and will be a leader in the weight room. Clay comes on a blitz at around 1:49 into his footage and is able to come off the edge and completely annihilate the blocking back, executing a remarkable QB sack. At 3:10, you can witness Clay burst downfield on kickoff and make a stellar tackle that is completely inescapable with the amount of force generated from his combined intense speed, acceleration and power. The play starting at 4 minutes and 50 seconds is able to demonstrate some of the best agility I have seen when blitzing from the LB position in the class of 2019 for a QB sack. What I really value about Clay is his ability to line up practically anywhere on the defensive side of the football. He is extremely versatile and has the athletic ability to be a high caliber player at the next level. From sheer film observation, Cogswell appears to be a player who enjoys contact sports at a very high level, as he is a TRUE ENFORCER on the defensive side of the football and on special teams. After watching the rest of his footage, I do not know if there is another player that gets into the backfield as quickly and with as much authority as Clay Cogswell. For this reason, Clay has been nominated and has accepted his Class of 2019 Scout Trout All-American Nomination and looks to carry the torch for the State of Kentucky moving forward in our S.T.E.P ratings 2019 Championship Series. Our 40th overall prospect is going to be on most of college football's radar, after already getting a like on his nomination stats by Coach Mike Leach of Washington State. When it comes to Linebackers, Scout Trout has been able to locate the best in the under recruited states, as last year we had All-American Defensive MVP Devon Banaszak from London, High School who will always hold a special place among the Scout Trout Elite! I spoke more about Clay Cogswell on Scout Trout Radio today and other pertinent subjects as we inch closer to high school and college football season! Congrats Clay and thanks for joining the Scout Trout Elite family! What to expect from 5 Star DB Joe Jackson this up and coming season for the RIchwoods Knights!7/27/2018 Scout Trout All-American JOe Jackson and #19 ranked prospect on
