Simon Kenton Beats MEade High School 29-28 in Week 0![]()
Simon-Kenton was able to withstand a very good Meade County team with a victory of 29-28. When you flip on Clay's tape, you can see he played a pivotal role in the Pioneers' conquest for victory. Lined up over the slot on the first play, Clay is seen breaking up the quick pass over the middle after quickly diagnosing the play. On the next play, Clay makes one of the best form tackles you will see coming off the edge and he brutally finishes the tackle. Clay is a dominating force on the football field and, with his incredible athletics, is seen taking the direct snap on the fake field play, in which he converts for 2 points. Cogswell dominates in all phases of the game and you can see him field a kickoff from the second line at :35 seconds into his week 0 highlights. Clay shows outstanding hands on this play and overall football instincts, as he is able to barrel up the sideline for a big time return. Cogswell makes a huge play on a punt block the very next play and once again shows superior quickness off nthe edge. When you watch the last play and witness Clay's closing speed on the Quarterback, you will see why he is the 43rd ranked recruit in the nation on College Football Today's Top 300.
Simon Kenton BEats Bryan Station 37-20 in Week 1
After a big week one victory, Cogswell and the SImon Kenton defense kept up their dominating style of play and were able to cruise to victory to improve to 2-0. Clay can be seen once again beaming around the field and destroying ball carriers when he arrives in dominating fashion. Clay made more big plays on Quarterback and was able to help the Pioneers win in two evenly matched contests. College Football Today's #8 overall DT, JJ Courtney supplied great pressure all game long to free up the likes of Clay and the other Pioneer linebackers and they future looks bright for both of these fine student-athletes!
Connor High School (1-0) will Travel To Simon Kenton (2-0) August 31st

Terry Byers is ranked as College Football Today's 24th overall recruit in the nation and is one of the most "aware" linebackers we have seen on the football field. On the first play of his highlights above, Byers is seen bending backward to make an exceptional interception and play for the Bay Tornadoes. Terry is seen on the next play ferociously tackling the ball carrier after he reads the play. We have yet to see Byers carry the football until now and he really gets to show off his athletics even more, as a ground-and-pound running back. Terry is seen taking two sweeps around the edge out of the gun formation and is very quick to get around the corner, while squaring his shoulder to pummel defenders for extra yardage. Byers is so quick at linebacker that lead blockers have a very hard time gauging where he is going to be, as seen on the play at 1:02 into his first game's highlights. This is also due to his extensive knowledge of the game of football and how to read plays instinctively. Terry is seen lined up to another Top 300 recruit Quarterback Cade Ledman again in the shotgun and being utilized on sweep plays around the edge. He is seen easily breaking tackles and is able to show off more of the powerful frame that makes him one of the nations top recruits heading into the 2018 season. Terry shows outstanding downhill power running ability on the last play of his first contests highlights and I am sure more collegiate coaches are going to offer this extremely talented prospect out of the talent rich state of Florida.

He signed with The Jacksonville Dolphins Team and looks like he is ready for a big season!Evan Greve 6'4,225LB OLB/MLB Class of 2019 Eastside Catholic HS (WA) - All-American Report5/11/2018 ![]()
Evan Greve is a RELENTLESS linebacker who can fit in a variety of different defensive schemes at the next level and create massive problems for an offense. He is one of the best Hybrid OLB's I have seen for the Class of 2019 at being able to "hold the edge" and uses his 6'4-225-LB-frame masterfully to disengage from oncoming blockers. You see this on the first play of his junior season highlights, as he appears to be caught inside. Evan is able to use his extremely "active" hands to scrape back to the outside to gain positioning, while keeping his eyes locked in the backfield to make a beautiful stop at the line of scrimmage. You see more of the same active hands on the next play, as Evan is able to detach nearly instantaneously from the receiver attempting to pin him down inside to make another sizzling stop at the line of scrimmage. On the third play, Evan drops into zone coverage perfectly and is able to keep his eyes locked on the QB in order to slide into perfect positioning to take an interception all the way for a touchdown! He shows more outstanding ability playing up in the 8-man box on the next play, as he delivers a bone-shattering hit on the ball carrier in the backfield. His ability to line up and play in the trenches at such a high level and then drop into pass coverage can be seen once again, as Evan is able drop into the flats and devour the screen play at 1:00 minute into his nationally ranked highlights. Evan also can dominate in the middle of a defense and is seen creating pressure up the A-gaps, as he athletically swifts his way to a QB sack. Evan is exceptionally quick to the football at around 1:52 and is able to read plays using his quick synaptic thinking, as he is a remarkably keen linebacker and obviously going to make a huge impact on any defense at the next level. This young man's play has a uncanny resemblance to last year's Oklahoma State signee Braden Spicer, who played with the same aggression and outstanding technique as Evan Greve exhibits in his highly graded junior season game film. All in all, I do not see many being able to "get the edge" on this young man, as he shows superior athletics and knowledge of how to use his God-given talent at the Hybrid OLB position. He also is one heck of a MLB and can slide into pass coverage better than most young men at his size. Evan Greve is a player who is going to benefit from our new Scout Trout Numerical rating algorithm, which is being input this weekend as prospects are graded on 12 components that are needed to excel at a high level in the world of college football on and off the field. Thank you Evan Greve for accepting your Scout Trout All-American Nomination and best of luck at the NorthWest Showcase and USC Rising Stars camps!
![]() Anthony Zimmerman comes to us from Hershey High School in Pennsylvania and is one of the most tenacious and technically sound linebackers I have seen for the Class of 2020. With the ability to diagnose plays extremely quickly, Zimmerman is in the backfield time and time again, creating havoc for his opponents. On the first play of Anthony's All-American highlights, you will see him gain perfect inside leverage with his arm extended to keep the offensive linemen off of him and then is able to make a bone shattering tackle deep into the opponents backfield. As a blitzing linebacker, Zimmerman is one of the quickest I have seen through the gap and he is able to once again meet the ball carrier as soon as he receives the hand-off. Zimmerman plays with great acceleration and speed on both sides of the football, while he also is a featured fullback in the traditional wing-t offense. He proves to be a tough runner with great instincts and vision when taking the read-option hand offs and wastes no time getting the ball moving downhill for big chunks of yards. Zimmerman's special teams play is what garnered him his teams specialist MVP award, as he is a master at blocking punts and kicks alike. Anthony keenly lines up over center and uses his supreme athletics to accelerate past the long snapper before he can get his head up to locate Anthony to make his block. Even when the Guard is able to step down to attempt to fill the A-GAP, Anthony proves to be to quick and keeps his pad level perfect, along with being able to gain instant leverage going through the hole and than is able to perfectly time his blocked punts and kicks. Anthony can be seen coming off the edge at around 3:00 minutes into his film and comes unblocked to get to the proper ball trajectory point and make another game-changing play. Anthony shows stellar ability when he performs inside "stunts" on opposing field goal block unit and is even seen twisting to the opposite gap so instinctively he is able to create dynamic plays on special teams at any given moment of a contest. Anthony is seen playing with great leverage and overall technique in the box, as time and time again, he is able to use his hands swiftly and precisely to detach from oncoming blockers in order to find the ball carrier. Anthony led the Varsity Ball Club at Hershey High School in tackles this past season and was a dominant force on special teams, which helped garner his Scout Trout Class of 2020 All-American nomination and #4 overall national linebacker ranking. With Anthony's stellar athletics and tackling ability, while also being coached by a former Penn State and Oakland Raider stand-out Linebacker in Bani Gbadyu, who had this to say about Class of 2020 All-American Anthony Zimmerman. "Anthony was a better LB as a Sophomore than I was in High School, and he was a pleasure to coach, and Anthony is one heck of an Athlete”! That's saying a lot coming from a player from Linebacker U, and who was picked up by the Oakland Raiders". One thing I learned about linebackers who played the game and thrived at the highest level is that they will not fabricate their evaluations on a young student-athlete. Zimmerman shows all of the characteristics of another big time talent from "Linebacker U" and will be a joy to watch this year on the gridiron in the heavily talented and tough football state of Pennsylvania. PENN STATE - LINEBACKER U!
Terry Byers has accepted his Scout Trout Class of 2019 All-American nomination and we are extremely excited to have this phenomenal linebacker on our roster. Byers led 5A football in the State of Florida in tackles and shows excellent lateral movement in being able to cover sideline to sideline. I rated Terry very highly nationally because along with his extraordinary lateral movement, he is a excellent ball hawk in pass coverage and shows great overall football instincts. Byers possesses a very high football IQ and has all of the tools to one day be just as good or better than Brain Urlacher, as his game portrays many similarities and is why he comes in at our #15 rated prospect on our Top 100. The first play of his highlight's you will see Terry make a quick read on the pass play and be able to flip his hips on a 45 degree angle extremely quickly to position himself in perfect coverage on the opposing Tight End. As he is getting positioned, Terry immediately gets his head turned directly to the QB and he is able to intuitively take away any chance of a completion as he quickly is able to make a very athletic interception on the football. Terry shows great overall field awareness and is a true testament to his skill at the linebacker position. Terry is seen on the next play accelerating extremely well and is able to meet the ball carrier and upon contact, drive him tenaciously to the turf. On most pass plays in this footage, you will see Terry make great decisive reads and is at the ball before the receiver can begin downfield. Terry is extremely fast for a class of 2019 LB and his acceleration out of his breaks will prove to get faster and these tackles will start to turn into pass break-ups and pick sixes! At 1:08, Terry is able to diagnose the screen pass right away and once again performs a flawless "form tackle" and is able to make another bone-crushing tackle. He makes another tackle that lands the ball carrier viciously on his back and is able to control a game from the MLB position with his high motor and gritty style of play. The fumble Terry causes at around 2:00 minutes, shows what kind of overall strength this young man possesses, as the ball carrier immediately loses the ball, upon running into this young locomotive. Terry is shown taking great backside pursuit angles and never gives up on a play, as he knows he has the athletic ability and determination to hawk any ball carrier down, no matter the distance. Byers shows more great ability in covering from sideline to sideline and then at 6:05, you will witness how fast Byers is through the gap as a blitzing MLB, as he is able to breakthrough the backfield and tackle the ball carrier for a 5 yard loss. Terry is able to show extreme quickness on this play and fires off the football so quick that the center has no chance to get out of his stance to block him. Byers is probably the best overall linebacker I have seen in zone and man coverage, as he very keenly is able to knock receivers off their routes, within the 5 yard limit and is always aware of the flight of the football. You will see him make a brilliant overall play and interception at around 6:48, which verifies my overall synopsis of the #2 rated LB prospect in the nation and the state of Florida's 5A leading tackler. Terry Byers has accepted his invitation as a Scout Trout All-American and we could not be happier to add him to our star studded roster of college bound athletes! Keep grinding bro and thanks for being apart of Scout Trout!
JIMMY BATES 6'2,205LBS CLASS OF 2019 VANCLEAVE HS (MS) - #9 NATIONALLY RATED ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ATH4/18/2018 2017 Senior BOwl to 2018 (NOW)
Jimmy Bates came to my first ever Scout Trout event at the 2017 NFL Reese's Senior Bowl weekend and admittedly needed work on his combine technique. Jimmy impressed many big time D1 alumni that day. In fact, he was all I heard them talk about after the event, as he had a great frame and used it very well on the defensive side of the football in 1-on-1's and 7-on-7 drills. That weekend, I helped Jimmy get down to a 4.6, 40 yard dash, and after I left Mobile and headed back to Denver, all I kept thinking about was how this kid could translate to a big time Tight-End or H-Back for the next level. Jimmy is such a well-rounded and gifted athlete that this year, I initially ranked him as a Strong Safety. However, going back through his camp footage I realized I was 100% correct in my evaluation, as I have not wavered on any athlete, as far as their overall upside is concerned since I began this journey in the world of college football coaching and recruiting. As you will see in the video above, Jimmy has all of the athletics to be a big time college football player and demonstrates an extremely keen ability to pick up our detail oriented training extremely fast and comprehensively. Jimmy has a 3.9 GPA and a 20 on his ACT, and has since improved his bench press max to 280LBS! When you compare this brute strength that is exhibited in his linebacker film when you watch him make bone-shattering tackles and his 4.4, 40 yard dash speed, along with a 4.08 shuttle and 10 foot broad jump. You will begin to see exactly why I ranked him so highly among the nation's top athlete prospects. Jimmy was not used on the offensive side of the football this past year, so I wanted to show off exactly how I would utilize this ELITE athlete in the passing game, as I know he will knock you on your back in the box as far as blocking is concerned. Jimmy SHOCKED me with his uncanny route running ability and how he easily and precisely he can locate the football while maintaining body control on the sidelines. Jimmy exemplifies what it takes to be a Scout Trout All-American for the Class of 2019 and proves to be an elite athlete in the eyes of Scout Trout and his peers of former big time college and pro football players. Jimmy will prove to be a hammer as a linebacker and also as a lead blocker if he gets his opportunity to blow up opposing defenders out of the backfield or at the Tight End position. At 6'2, 205LBS, Jimmy will easily be about 6'3-6'4 and with his remarkable skill set and work ethic in the weight room yielding 225-230LBS, Bates epitomizes a prototypical H-Back at the next level. I am excited to work with Jimmy more over the course of the spring and summer in beautiful Biloxi, Mississippi where I have been training in the sand for 3-4 months.
Check out Jimmy as a OLB coming off the edge below! He had about 75 total tackles last season and we will be getting more footage soon of our #9 Overall ranked ATH in America!
Tyler Dobbs is one of the most well rounded Linebacker/Fullback prospects I have seen on tape and his academics are IVY league material, as he boasts a 3.88 GPA. With 4.6 speed and a powerfully built frame, I initially graded Dobbs, as an MLB when I watched his tape, but I am also going to be adding him to the FB category in our Class of 2019 rankings today. You will watch Dobbs savagely play the role of the "clean up man" on the first play of his Class of 2019 highlights and completely unearth the defender and he hits the ball carrier so hard that his helmet is removed rapidly. The second play with Dobbs at fullback, you will witness his game changing speed for his size at that position, as he bursts through the hole and is able to break two tackles, while utilizing a beautiful stiff on his way to pay-dirt. Dobbs is able to instinctively read the next play and reacts spontaneously to devour the running back for a loss on the swing pass. Dobbs shows outstanding tackling abilities and is able to kill the ball carriers "levers" and stop them dead in their tracks. His quickness and speed off the snap is very impressive and he has a very keen sense on his pursuit angles. Dobbs is seen wonderfully "scraping" down the line of scrimmage at :50 seconds into his highlights and once again is able to up end the ball carrier with his stellar tackling skills. He takes on blockers very well using his hands to get separation or gain leverage to keep contain, and reads plays instantaneously, like the QB draw at 1:10, to inflict damage on his opponents. At around 1:46, Dobbs is seen once again completely obliterating another back on a swing pass, and his speed to the football is very visible. One of the best overall "form tackles" you will witness on the next play, as Dobbs keeps his head up and drives himself through the hip of the ball carrier to lay him flat on his back. Dobbs shows a great "power" style of running and epitomizes a college fullback. With his 4.6 speed, he could also be a very good to elite running back at the college level, as well. With his academics and amazing athletics demonstrated on the football field, Tyler Dobbs came in as my 11th ranked overall MLB upon initial evaluation. The fact that he makes me struggle on whether or not to move him to my #1 or #2 ranked Fullback overall, should attest to his capabilities as a ball carrier. Tyler has accepted his Scout Trout Class of 2019 All-American nomination, and we are extremely excited to see this young man progress into a big time NCAA Collegiate Football player!

Silva comes to us from William Floyd HS in New York and will be a extremely valuable addition to any collegiate offense and/or defense. Nick Silva is the epitome of a complete running back and is capable of controlling a football game on the ground from start to finish. Nick could very well be used as a Fullback at the next level, as he would fit perfect as a Georgia Tech style triple-option super back. Silva Bench pressed 225LBS 15 times and keeps his powerful legs churning to break through tackles, as a knife slides through butter. On the very first play of his highlights above, Silva is seen hitting the hole with great acceleration, while using great agility and strength to break free of defenders. He then lowers his shoulder and shows outstanding lower body power to run right over the defender, to make his way all the way to the end zone for the score. Silva shows his short yardage ability on the goal line the very next play and is able to bull-doze through THREE defenders, on his way for one of his 40 Touchdowns for his historic career to this point. Nick is also a very keen linebacker, who has a great football IQ that is shown on the next play of his highlight's. You can see Nick's head keying on the motion man and he is able to make a great break on the football, after very quickly identifying the play. After, Nick makes a beautiful interception and is able to take the ball back for a touchdown. Silva is seen firing through the "A" gap on the very next play and is in the backfield so quickly, the ball carrier never has a chance to secure the ball, as Nick pummels his opponent into fumbling the football. I love Nick's "in and out" style of running, while maneuvering through traffic, as he is extremely tough to bring down once he gets into the open field. Silva shows his ability in the screen game, after another exhilarating touchdown run and great awareness in moving the ball to the proper arm, while welcoming the on-coming safety with a BRUTAL stiff arm! Silva is able to identify the cut-back lane and also can change directions in a flash, while still being able to accelerate to escape the inferior defenders. Silva is one of those powerful backs, who possesses the rare ability to completely wear out a defense at the next level. He is not your typical ground and pound back thou, as at any given moment he will take advantage of a defenders over-pursuit and break into daylight for a long gain. At 1:49 into his film, Nick once again hits the designed running lane very quickly only to find nowhere to run. He is able to then make one of the best spin moves I have seen in the box out of a Class of 2019 running back and uses his stiff arm, while running through three defenders who appear to fear this authoritative back from Mastic Beach, NY. Silva makes another thrilling play on defense the very next play and once again, makes a decisive read on the ball and shows great concentration making the interception on the deflected pass. The beauty about Nick's play on the gridiron is a very compelling mix of old school football, that combines some of the best athletics and football IQ I have witnessed on tape out of the Northeast region of America. With the ability to do so many things on a football field it is going to be a honor to work with this young man, as I have now officially nominated him, as a Scout Trout Early Selection All-American! Since 8th grade Nick has dominated with the football in his hands and knows the game of football so well, that he is able to switch sides of the ball and DOMINATE on the other side of the football, as a Linebacker. This fabulous prospect is destined for great things on either side of the football and with a 3.62 GPA, is another "Total Package" prospect that we have identified, as a ELITE COLLEGE Football prospect for the Class of 2019. The tackling technique alone that Sliva uses, after expeditiously identifying plays at linebacker, reminds me of Brain Urlacher, who was a safety at U of New Mexico and and also a Hall of Fame linebacker for the Chicago Bears. Congrats on being selected as a Class of 2019 Scout Trout Early All-American nomination and keep progressing quicker then your competitors, on and off the field to create your path to greatness in the world of collegiate football.
Joe Jackson put in the work last off-season to produce an exhilarating junior campaign, he is the definition of outworking the competition and demonstrates an outstanding overall "process" in bettering his game and his overall athletics. With a brother to train with who is currently playing football at a high level with one of the top NAIA programs in America (St.Francis-- Home of Lachlan Poor), Joe will be a leader on and off the field for years to come with the core principals that have been instilled in him.
![]()
Joe Jackson is a Class of 2019 Scout Trout standout prospect from the state of Illinois and can be seen storming in for a Quarterback sack, on the first play of his All-American highlight's. Jackson is very quick at reading the play design and is able to fly up into the box from the Safety position, to ensure he stuffs the ball carrier, while showing outstanding tackling technique. On the third play of his highlight's, Joe is seen making a Ed Reed type interception, as he gets his feet down in-bounds to make a phenomenal play for his team. Playing up in the box on the next play, as a Outside Linebacker, Joe is seen destroying the ball carrier, while coming off the edge and finishes the play with a punishing tackle. Jackson has a extremely high motor and shows great agility on the football field, showing the ability to get to the ball in a hurry! Joe is able to get off of oncoming blockers easily and never gives up on a play, which causes him to wind up with a big fumble recovery later in this film. With the ability to play up in the box, as a OLB and/or drop back and play in the defensive backfield, Joe is primed for a big recruiting season, as he has accepted his invitation as a Class of 2019 Early Selection Scout Trout All-American!
Jimmy Bates 6'1,195LB ATH Class of 2019 Vancleave HS (MS) - Scout Trout Most Coach-Able Savage award12/17/2017
![]()
Jimmy Bates is a player who has completely bought into the Scout Trout platinum elite training program and is destined for greatness at the next level. Jimmy was at my Scout Trout Mini-Camp last year, at the 2017 NFL Reese's Senior Bowl, when I was exploring all options/mechanisms to assist my players in recruitment. We were able to get him down that day to a 4.65, from a 4.9, 40 yard dash. Jimmy was a good athlete at the LB position in our drills and he obviously has been fine tuning all of the fine details, in order to dominate Scout Trout's workouts, which are designed specifically for the collegiate/pro football levels. So first, Jimmy decided to listen and has propelled himself to a Scout Trout Class of 2019 All-American, as he has recently ran three 4.47,40 yard dashes in a row and even hit a 10' broad jump, while busting out a very quick shuttle, at around 4.1. I am not a high school football coach, but I would not be using this amazingly gifted athlete as a blocker. When I watch Jimmy run routes and his ability to catch nearly every pass thrown his way, combined with the toughness this young man exhibits, he looks like a big time Tight End/H-Back in Scout Trout's college style system. On the defensive side of the football, I got to watch Bates cover extremely well yesterday, as he is in the receivers hip pocket and can use his keen football senses, to masterfully deflect passes with his perfect OLB/SS frame. When you watch the film below of Jimmy's play at LB, you will witness extreme quickness off the edge and he is able to get to the QB for a sack! Jimmy is able to scour from sideline to sideline, like the ball hawk he truly is on the defensive side of the football. On kickoff team, the very next play, Bates shows he means business, as he fly's down field and is able to completely annihilate the returner, who never stood a chance. Jimmy shows outstanding backside pursuit and if you know how strongly this young man's will is to succeed, then you will realize why he plays with such a high motor, along with the mind-set that, "You can't stop him, but may only hope to contain him", as the late great Stuart Scott once stated (R.I.P). Jimmy will be a huge success at the next level, as he is a very versatile athlete, with the skill-set that Scout Trout and most college football coaches covet, on their football team. When it is all said and done, Jimmy will prove the nay-sayers wrong and rise up to be a intricate part of any college football teams schematics. Jimmy is officially our Scout Trout Most Coach-able Savage of the year for the Class of 2019, as it was a very easy decision, based on the improvements he has made in his combine numbers alone. Jimmy is destined for a great Scout Trout All-American Bowl and also for his senior year, at Vancleave HS in Mississippi! I want to thank Jimmy, Jimmy's mother and the coaches at Vancleave for allowing him to be apart of the Scout Trout Militia, as we seek to create our own paths, through diligence and mentally preparing for what's ahead. As I stated many times before, you cannot pay someone to get you a scholarship, you must be willing to sacrifice things that "normal", non scholarship student's get to do, it's why they have to pay for school and you won't! Wake up every morning knowing there is another Jimmy Bates out there who wants this just as badly as you do. At Scout Trout, we will rise, we will grind and we will always prevail with the stonework that has already been paved. Me and Jimmy Bates, along with many other Scout Trout athlete's have already made up our minds and all we seek is what is rightfully ours for the taking! KEEP GRINDING JIMMY!
