three D1 Offers from Southern Miss, morehead state and the georgetown hoyas!Coach Bryan Smart Has The MOst Dynamic All-Purpose BAck in the NAtion![]()
Coach Bryan Smart had the St. Cloud football team attended the Fellowship of Christian Athletes team camp in July and they are heading into the 2018 season with arguably the best All-Purpose Back in the nation. Seth Johnson was recently rated as the 15th top overall college football prospect for the Class of 2019 and when you flip on his out-of-this-world highlight tape below, you will see why he is a match-up nightmare for opposing defenses across the state of Florida. Playing in 7A Football, Coach Smart has built a winning tradition at St. Cloud, after coaching in his earlier years in Gloucester City, NJ at Gloucester High School. Having played against Coach Smart and knowing where he comes from personally, you are going to find more "diamonds in the rough", as his still young career progresses coming from this outstanding high school football coach. That being said, I have not seen an athlete of this skill level since the legendary Philadelphia Eagle, Bryan Westbrook.
Brian WEstbrook vs Seth Johnson
These two players share a remarkable resemblance and it is one that obviously will be tested over the rest of Johnson's illustrious career. With over 2,000 all-purpose yards, Johnson can flat out do it all on the gridiron and has bulked up to 5'8,182lbs heading into his senior campaign. Players like Bryan Westbrook revolutionized the game of football as new and innovative offensive schemes were designed to utilize these unique players that possess out of this world athletics. Having to game-plan for a guy that can line up practically anywhere on the football field and ultimately vanish behind a wall of giants, to only appear in a flash is terrifying for bigger defensive players. Johnson shows his ability as a receiver on the very first play of his highlights and as Coach Smart explained, you cannot cover him man to man. He uses a very keen style of route running and is able to set defenders up early in his route. On the second play, you will witness a short crossing route that we also see Mr. Westbrook run quite often, as they both use uncanny speed to get open. His "post-corner" route on the third play is one of the best routes I have seen at setting the defenders up to the inside and breaking back outside for the score. The next play is very Westbrook-like and should have made ESPN's top plays, as he completely shatters the safeties ankles after taking the football through the defense on a zone-read concept. We get to see some outstanding run blocking on the next play, as Johnson puts the defensive back on roller skates until the whistles blows. Johnson is able to run a "dig" route on the next play and shows his exuberant play as he breaks through five defenders and fights for yet another outstanding touchdown. A few plays later, you get to see Johnson patiently work open for his QB and makes a very quick snag out of the air, which shows he is wired to quickly process any given scenario on the football field. With the acceleration this young man possesses and the ability to process information at a moment's notice, Seth Johnson has been rated by Scout Trout as the next Brian Westbrook. Seth Johnson will continue to improve under the great coaching style of Coach Brian Smart and staff, while solidifying himself as one of the nation's premiere offensive weapons when it is all said and done.
The Bulldogs will open the regular season Thursday, Aug. 28 at ESPN Wide World of Sports against Eagle Crest, Colorado.![]()
The platform will be large for the St. Cloud football team and Coach Smart, as EagleCrest, Colorado travels to Florida. We will be keeping close watch, as St.Cloud makes some major noise this year in Floirda 7A Football and in the world of college football recruiting, as Seth Johnson, Coach Smart and the St. Cloud football team are Elite by any standard in football today.
