Special Speech from Nick Saban Coming tonight! 

• Saban had not intended to enter the coaching ranks until Don James hired him as a graduate assistant at Kent State, while Saban waited for his wife to graduate.
• Assistant Coach - Syracuse in 1977, West Virginia in 1978 and 1979, Ohio State in 1980 and 1981, Navy in 1982, and Michigan State from 1983 to 1987.
•  Before 1988 Season -  Kent State passed over Saban for its vacant head coaching position and hired Dick Crum. Saban was then hired as an assistant for the Houston Oilers in the National Football League.
• December 22nd 1989 - Nick Saban begins his coaching career at the University of Toledo. Had immediate success after going 9-2 and winning the MAC championship, also turned down a application from Urban Meyer. 
• After one season, Coach Saban resigned to take the Defensive Coordinator job with guess who - Bill Belichick. Nick Saban was quoted as saying that those were "the worst 4 years of his life". 
• After leaving Cleveland, Michigan State was Nick Saban's next stop and he was able to lead them to a 10-2 record in 1999, which was Michigan State's best record since 1965! 
• Nick Saban then took the job at LSU and in a few short years, was hoisting the National Championship trophy, after a 13-1 season in 2003! This began a legacy that was defined off of resiliency, effort, a pursuit of knowledge and not letting obstacles define the legend that Nick Saban has become today. 
• Coach Saban went back to the NFL to the Miami Dolphins and than made his way to Tuscaloosa, where the reign of college football supremacy has not ceased since. 

NIck Saban's Process

His process begins with years of learning from watching others and himself fail in societal respects. But because of his devout faith and character, Nick Saban was able to create a process that not many have succeeded in doing thus far and the proof is in his hardware. I do not jump on bandwagons, I study why things are the way they are, and Nick Saban is the epitome of what it takes to be successful in the world of college football today. Going forward, all athletes who aspire to be great should take a Saban like approach to the game and realize ALL of the gifts you are blessed with and take nothing for grant-it, as one day, you might wind up as the most revered man in the game. 

When I examined last year's "All-American" rosters in total, I did not feel they reflected the nation's top talent, as far as collegiate football players are concerned. They featured the players who wanted to enjoy the limelight and had massive media attention, rather than using advanced knowledge of where the top players in the country come from and what it takes to succeed at a high level. Why is this? Well, based on my observations, most of the people running these events lack the knowledge and experience necessary. If I put together the top 50-60 players from last years 2018 Scout Trout All-American Bowl and brought their Southeastern football style of play to 99% of these over-hyped All-American rosters' backyard, they would have barely been able to manage 3 points on our defensive units. When it comes to evaluating prospects, everyone is relying on someone else's expert opinion and advice, instead of doing their own due diligence, as it takes a certain type of individual to scour through millions of hours of footage. It also takes a person who can identify strengths and weaknesses immediately and in turn, knows how to correct those weaknesses. Chuck Noll was famous for coaching these same methods to the Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers. This was reflective in each athlete's play, and they bought into the concept of bettering themselves in totality, day in and day out. When you take this a step further in today's modern game, you will run into the beloved New England Patriots and also your modern day Nick Saban who led National Champion Crimson Tide. They are successful because they know how to quickly identify weaknesses, not only in their overall ball clubs, but in each and every player that has the honor to be coached by those who have defined all of their processes to the max.
