There are several ways to move up in the Scout Trout National Rankings, and Brenden Taylor found a way to pass a power 5 Dual-Threat QB commit. Brenden was able to do this by showing outstanding versatility at both wide receiver positions in the highlights above. Brenden is able to really show off his 4.5 speed in this film and his extremely fluent running style, which shows what type of truly gifted athlete he is and will continue to be at the next level and possible beyond. There is a long line of former stand-out high school and college QB's that were asked to make the switch because they were superior athletes and had a extremely high football IQ. They always say the QB makes the receivers look good, but in this case, Brenden could work out as a Julian Edelman type receiver, who is well known for slinging trick passes from the slot for the New England Patriots. When he is seen back at his natural QB position, Taylor appears to have gained even more velocity on his passes and really shows a great overall "body whip" when throwing on the run that is able to create great velocity and marvelous accuracy. Brenden has superior academics and is a very bright young man with a 3.87 GPA and shows remarkably rapid "synapses" when being able to react to the football. This type of brain activity in more basic terms is his "reflexes," which are produced by rapidly firing cells in our brains that are able to trigger our bodies to move in a certain direction or mannerism (READ MORE HERE). Brenden gets in and out of his cuts beautifully going forward in his film and shows that he could also be a 4-star slot receiver or higher! That being said, when you watch Brenden roll out at 1:05 into this stellar footage of off-season activity you will witness why I ranked him so highly as a Dual-Threat QB! The ball comes out extremely smooth as usual and Taylor is able to sling the ball at least 50 yards down field with a flick of the wrist. The overall mechanics Brenden shows in his passing game is marvelous to see at such a young age and at around 2:30 seconds, you will see more of the "zip" that I am talking about. You will see another perfectly thrown pas at 3:00 minutes and Brenden once again is able to create a perfect arm angle and deliver a dime while rolling to his non throwing side. I am not a big fan of "speed ladders", as football is a game that is played while rapidly reacting to another action or actions. So having a ladder set in the same place will show how quick your feet are, but not prepare you for the game of football. What's more, Brenden shows extremely quick and precise feet, while proving he can also be utilized as a wide or slot receiver at the next level. Brenden shows perfect hand placement when catching passes, as he does not let the ball get to his body and can "high point" deep passes, saving pivotal hundredths of a second in being able to evade ball hawking DB's at the next level. I see Brenden as a potential Heisman Trophy caliber Dual-Threat QB, as he is one of the most elusive young men we have seen, but also possesses arguably the cleanest and most efficient throwing motion I have ever seen on tape nationally. Brenden has joined my Elite program and we cannot wait to unveil what is next for our Elite QB's. I have a challenge coming this summer and it will be for top positioning in my Scout Trout ranking algorithm that was designed to find and develop future G.O.A.T.S of College Football.

Brenden Taylor is an electrifying dual threat QB out of Broome HIgh School in Spartansburg, SC, who also possesses stellar academics with a 3.87 GPA. On the first play of his highlights, Taylor is able to escape multiple defenders, while bursting right into the heart of the defense, only to use a brilliant spin move and is able to pull away from the defenders leaving them and his towel in the dust. Taylor has a very aggressive downhill running style that will suit many college football programs who heavily use the option game in their offensive arsenal. On the third play, Brenden is able to show off his arm and make a perfect back shoulder fade completion to his leaping receiver for a touchdown. On the ensuing plays, Brenden shows off his ability to create yards after contact. He keeps his legs churning to break tackle after tackle, showing the type of grit this young Class of 2019 Elite QB Prospect plays with. At around 1:45 into his magnificent highlight reel, Brenden is able to drop a perfectly timed fade route down the sideline, demonstrating the type of touch needed to excel in throwing receiver open at the next level. Taylor once again shows the ability to push the ball downfield, and his ability to throw while on the run, on the very next play and is able to drop another dime for a touchdown. In the three step passing game, Brenden shows a extremely quick release and throws the ball very accurately and on time. Brenden Taylor shows every characteristic of an outstanding college quarterback and has been nominated as a Class of 2019 early selection Scout Trout All-American. I look forward to watching him play this coming season and writing more about his fabulous upside for the world of collegiate football! |
