Top 100 Class of 2020 6'2,280LB OL/DLÂ JOhnny Taylor HIrschi HS (TX) - ALl-American Report8/14/2018
Johnny Taylor and the Huskies are heading into 2018 with major momentum, as they have worked hard to solidify themselves as an elite Texas High School football program. Players like Taylor have often gone overlooked in the past on the offensive line and in his film below that is labeled "Dominating Left Tackle!!!", you will see what appears to be a big time college football prospect. Taylor is seen getting outside on a screen pass in front of the nations top class of 2019 student-athlete Daimarqua Foster and gets downfield quickly to annihilate the defensive back. After a beautiful interior pancake on the second play, Johnny is seen once again using outstanding athletics for a big class of 2020 OL prospect and once again pummels the defender effortlessly into the turf. Johnny shows great strength but also a very deceptive quickness, as he uses his hands extremely well in turning the defensive end out on the power run to give foster a clear running lane. You see the same move on the next play, as you watch the outstanding class of 2018 Huskies QB Martez Vrana take a read-option play through the exact same gap, as foster did on the last play for another Huskies score. Watching more great run blocks, Taylor is very good at taking the defensive player for a ride the way his body and leverage have him heading. Using outstanding hand placement and quick reflexes, Taylor is able to maneuver defensive linemen, linebackers and even defensive backs to whatever direction he chooses. The way Taylor is seen completely obliterating and caving in the defensive line on the goal-line at 1:55 shows more of the same tenacity that helped the Huskies get deep into the Texas State Playoffs. He completely caves in the left side of the line and Foster is able to leap over the top for one of his 53 touchdowns on the season. He shows outstanding upper and lower body strength, and this will only improve with the Hirschi Huskies outstanding strength and conditioning program. At around 2 minutes, you will see Taylor's pass blocking ability at the Left Tackle position. Johnny is seen delivering stellar footwork and is able to buy Vrana valuable time in the pocket, in order to find his "check down" route in Foster out in the flats. You can see more very impressive pass blocking on the very next play, as Taylor has his arms completely extended and demonstrates the kind of "immovable force" he really can be at the next level. Taylor can play all of the positions on the offensive line and is also an outstanding defensive linemen. With the tradition the Huskies have built with the outstanding coaches and players over the past few seasons, I expect a huge year from Taylor and the Husky family, as they embark on a journey to the top of Texas High School Football in 2018.
