20th top 300 recruit JOe Jackson Playing LIke a LInebacker
Sometimes as a Free Safety you have to come up and make plays when your team is getting dominated in the 8-man box, as Joe Jackson is seen doing in his teams opening loss to Normal Community High School. Joe will be playing some outside linebacker as well this season after showing more great speed to the football out of the defensive backfield. Number 27 is seen coming up in the box after running down a ball carrier on his first play to make a great form tackle up near the line of scrimmage. Joe shows more of his side to side movement and that he is back at 100% on the next play, as he once again meets the ball carrier after he clears the first level of defenders from the Free Safety position. Joe shows more great football instincts on the very next play, as he once again is able to cut off the ball carrier, while tracking him down all the way to the sideline.
JOE MAKES A OUTSTANDING FIELD GOAL BLOCK @ :37 SEconds off of the EDGE!
As you can see in the screen shot above, Joe lays out perfectly on top of the football to execute the field goal block, giving the boot no chance to go through the uprights.. He also shows great acceleration off the line of scrimmage and is instinctively able to leave the ground for the blocked kick from a long distance. Jackson is able to make more tackles to end his film with great overall body control and technique. Even though Richwoods suffered a loss, they will head back to the drawing board and keep fighting up front to secure the ball carrier before he gets his momentum rolling downhill. This was not your "Normal" Normal Community High School Football team, as they had a very good read-option game plan heading into the contest and their QB executed very well. The only way to win in a bad loss like this is to figure out why, get better and move on quickly, as their next contest is at home against Manual High School on Friday, Aug 31st.
