First off, The Ole Miss Rebels are masterful at producing next level players and Lloyd Murray is nothing less than a 5-Star prospect when you evaluate his style of play. With the amount of D1 FBS offers Murray has received and the talent he exhibits with his teammates for the Hirschi Huskies is remarkable and just happened to remind me of one of my former teammates and the success we had overall as unit at Hargrave Military Academy. Things were not easy at first, adjusting to 5:00AM wake-ups to march to breakfast, attending classes and rigorous military discipline, and then a 2 mile up-hill walk to football practice. Coach Prunty made sure practices were 100 times harder then the games we played and produced Ole Miss products Jerrell Powe and John Jerry–two of my favorite linemen that I got the privilege to watch compete in the National Football League. Murray reminds me a lot of Jerrell Powe in the way he can control a game from the interior line. When I first evaluated Murray, I witnessed a young athletic defensive tackle, who was extremely quick off the football and showed supreme upper body strength.
The ability to move at 310LBS on the interior line is quite fun to watch, as Lloyd Murray pummels his opponents and the impact he brings upon contact is something I also witnessed in Jerrell Powe and Callahan Bright, while at Hargrave Military Academy. When you watch Lloyd Murray's aggressiveness towards the football below and how quickly he can closes in on the ball carrier, he appears to be a top linebacking prospect with his overall agility. Upon engagement, Lloyd still has a vicious "punch" as he stays low and has great hand placement in order to drive his opponent into the backfield and is extremely quick to the football for his size. Jerrell and Murray have a lot in common athletically and Jerrell could play at 380LBS and still have been effective. But, if Murray can keep his athletics at the skill they are now, while maintaining at least a weight of 330LBS or under, he will be the best defensive tackles in ALL of college football, as his offer list states. Knowing the interior line and their assignments to make a defense thrive in college football, Murray has all the tools to create disruption for opponents nationally just as his predecessor Powe did at Ole Miss and the National Football League.
Congrats Lloyd Murray!
