When I first seen Darius Pinnix on the football field, I was reminded of a bigger and more powerful Reggie Bush. This much more physical version of the NFL Running Back was able to catch balls out of the backfield as well as run over defenders while showing outstanding footwork. When Coach Prunty was at ECU, there was even talks about Darius playing on the defensive side of the football because of the versatility he exhibited at Western Alamance High School and in training camp with the East Carolina Pirates football team. After showing glimpses of being one of the best power runners as a true freshmen last season, I believe Pinnix will begin to catch the eyes of NFL coaches and scouts at all 32 teams with his outstanding skill-set. Coach Prunty was responsible for helping over 100 players get to the NFL and coached many household names. With him now being at Hampton as the Head Coach, Pinnix looks to lead a struggling Pirates team in Conference USA play.

I would like to wish Darius Pinnix a great Sophomore Season and Coach Scottie Montgomery a successful season! In my opinion, the more this young man gets the ball in his hands, the better chance you have of winning in a year that Coach Montgomery is said to "need a miracle" to keep his job at East Carolina.
