6th Ranked 2019 DB Recruit in the NAtion Adrian Cuevas has the closing speed of a cheetah!

Adrian Cuevas IS A Dominant AThlete

If you look at Adrian's combine stats to the left that were produced at major camps like Notre Dame this off-season and combine his play on the field, Cuevas is arguably the top 2019 DB recruit in the nation. With a S.T.E.P rating of 8.425 and a 5-star display of talent on defense and special teams, Cuevas ranks 6th in the nation and most likely will keep moving up our College Football Today recruiting board, as he continues his excellence on and off the gridiron. 

Adrian Cuevas Makes Big PLays Against Nationally Ranked
​De LA SAlle HS (CA)

Adrian can be seen playing up the 8-man box, as he is a very physical defensive back that can come up and make tackles when needed. On the first play of his highlights against De La Salle, Cuevas is able to instinctively make a quick read on very quick pass and is able to break up the play by deflecting the pass. Adrian shows his fabulous "lever killing" tackling ability on the next play and than lines up as a "gunner" on punt team for one of the best coverage plays I have seen all year long. Cuevas is able to whisk by the defender as a gunner and burst downfield to make a perfect form tackle causing a fumble on the return man, who should have fair caught the football. On the flip side, a few plays later on the punt return team, Adrian is seen completely neutralizing his man downfield, who winds up helpless on the turf. You can clearly see Adrian's near perfect tackling technique on the next play at :45 seconds, as he is one of the best I have seen at taking away the ball carriers ability to run by wrapping up the legs. His hit at :54 seconds on the next play is able to display an immense amount of power, as Adrian is able to viciously fly across the field and lay out the ball carrier in more of a linebacker role. After more bone-crushing tackles, Cuevas has proved he is not only a lock-down cover corner, but also looks like he could line up as a linebacker or strong safety at the next level with his keen tackling ability and athletics.

Cuevas was needed up the box against national powerhouse De La Salle and was able to show how strong he actually is in the trenches against some of the top recruits in the nation. If he was on the other side of the football and playing for De La Salle, he easily would be a 5-Star defensive back on every network in the nation. Central Catholic is proving to be an outstanding football team in 2018 and watching the De La Salle footage, Cuevas was lighting them up religiously when he decided to create his opportunity. What I love about Adrian Cuevas is the fact that he refuses to accept mediocrity and will always find a way to make plays to keep his team in the game. At the next level, Cuevas could wind up being one of the best defensive players in college football, as creating turnovers and tackling are at a premium in College Football Today.

Adrian shows his closing speed on the ball carrier on the first play and looks like a cheetah hunting his prey. As seen in the last highlights, Cuevas is once again used brilliantly up in the box on the Safety/OLB blitz to create pressure on the QB to cause a hurried pass. Cuevas is one of the more agile defensive backs for his size and physicality he brings to the DB position and has once again justified his ranking as a top 10 defensive back in the nation. With a willingness to learn and grasp concepts quickly, Adrian has every tool needed to be a top flight Division I DB or OLB, out of the highly touted football state of California.
