Top 2022 LB recruit John Paul Janik is a highly aggressive linebacker, who reads his keys instinctively and is able to shoot into the opponents backfield with outstanding acceleration to make bone crushing tackles. Janik can be seen lined up at both the MLB and OLB positions, as he is extremely versatile on the defensive side of the football and plays with a very high motor in the process. John uses his body very well when hog tying ball carriers and is very technically sound upon engagement, as he can be seen taking out the levers of opposing backs in his 2019 highlight's. He proves to have the ability to cover ground quickly, as he possesses uncanny agility for a 2022 LB recruit and never ceases from keeping his feet moving to finish tackles. I like the way he keeps his arms extended when engaging with O-linemen out of the edge and Janik is able to detach quickly to swarm to the football and make the tackle. TOP 2022 LINEBACKERS

When it comes to the versatility many of our top 2022 linebackers display on the defensive side of the football, many top 2022 linebackers show the ability to excel in multiple roles at the next level. John demonstrates the physicality to play at the middle linebacker position, but also has the speed and agility needed to be a dominant outside linebacker or edge rusher. When evaluating his 2019 game tape, his terrorizing style of play could be utilized in many ways on the defensive side of the football and his diverse skill-set makes him one of the most feared 2022 linebackers in the State of Florida. I really like John in the middle of the defense with his uncanny agility, as his lateral movements are off the charts and he can cover a vast amount of space rapidly. He also could easily fit into a Hybrid-OLB role with his pass rushing capabilities and is able to quickly beat edge blockers with his quickness off the snap of the football. Janik plays with very active hands and uses a great repertoire of power & finesse moves to disengage from blockers, while being able to swarm to the football and bring ball carries to the turf. He plays with a low center of gravity and also could pan out to be a hard hitting SS/OLB in many defensive schemes, but his fast twitch and rapid reflexes I believe best suit him in getting after the Quarterback. From talking to multiple sources from camps he has attended, John is very sound in man to man & zone coverage and can easily cover Tight Ends, Inside Receivers, as well as running backs coming out of the backfield. He already has many top tier football programs highly intrigued with his play on the gridiron and his stellar academic achievements, as he has 4.52 GPA heading into his junior season at Gulf Coast HS.
