TOP 2020 QUARTERBACK RECRUIT

Top 2020 quarterback recruit Tristan Vandiver out of Ripley HS in Mississippi is one of the most gifted recruits both academically, as well as athletically in the 2020 college football recruiting class. There is now a very good chance he could be ranked the number one overall QB recruit in our STEP ratings algorithm, as he has both pro style capabilities at the position, as well as a magnificent dual-threat presence. Tristan has outstanding combine stats at the position and a 4.3 GPA, combined with a 28 ACT to match. Top QB recruits in 2020 should have a certain mindset established to become an elite college football quarterback, as well as a work ethic as a top athlete in the game of American football. Check out the numbers below and read more of what I think about how the way Tristan plays the game at the quarterback position.

2020 TOP QB RECRUIT

2020 top QB recruit Vandiver shows the ability to step up in the pocket and is able to throw his receivers open to a spot downfield. He also is able to fit the ball into extremely tight windows into tight coverage over the top of the defense, when evaluating his 2018 highlight's above. In the third throw of his tape, Valdiver is able to throw his receiver to a spot and fit the ball in between three defenders, who were closing in on the receiver for a big play. The next throw is placed over the top of two defenders perfectly on an out route, which shows not only arm strength, but superior ball placement. We get to see Tristan's wheels on the next snap, as he takes the ball quickly downhill and scampers for a very big gain. He is able to push the ball downfield and hit his receivers perfectly in stride and operates with a quick release in the short passing game. 

2020 ALL-AMERICAN QB

I am naming Tristan to my 2020 All-American roster as a QB for a variety of reasons, but at around 1:02, you will begin to see some of the best pocket presence at the quarterback position. Tristan is able to beautifully step up in the pocket to avoid pressure and still deliver a dime downfield for a big play. The next few plays you see more of Tristan fitting the football into tight windows up the seam and delivering very accurate darts downfield. At around 1:27, Tristan the ability to get the ball out of his hand quickly on the deep ball to once again throw his receiver open for a big play up the sideline. Tristan throws the deep out routes which take a very strong arm, better then most QB's I have witnessed in his class and throws a very catch-able football, much like the Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray.

Top 2020 FB recruit rankings sheets are being updated this weekend at College Football Today and if the STEP algorithm is used correctly, Vandiver will be among the elite football recruits in the nation. Watching Tristan toss the ball on the run moving forward into his tape, he is able to regain control of his body and deliver accurate strikes to his check down receivers. I guess when you have a 4.2 GPA and 28 ACT, you can translate that knowledge to the QB position and operate at an extremely high level in the process.
