Kyle Benedict is the BEst at BEating Press Coverage - 185 yards on 7 catches & 1 TD
Last season Benedict was arguably the best receiver in the state of Florida and when I studied his body of work that led to being named All-State, I found that he is the best in the nation. This extremely gifted route runner is one of the best I have seen at beating tight bump and run coverage, and it is a mistake for a defensive back to attempt such a technique against Benedict. As seen below, Benedict uses outstanding acceleration once the ball is snapped to blow by the man-to-man coverage on the outside for his first long score of the season. When his man starts to creep off, Kyle and his Quarterback are seen hitting a beautiful slant route to the open part of the field. Benedict then shows his tenacious running style and the power he possesses overall, as he drags 4-5 defenders downfield after the catch. Having a 26.4 yards per catch average in a opening contest is unheard of at the high school level and makes my reasoning for his 5-Star recruit status even more clear. You will witness Benedict set his defender up swiftly to the inside, only to beat him quickly to the outside fade route on the next two plays. On the second play, Kyle shows his uncanny ability to locate the football while in flight and his diverse ability to go up over defenders and make plays. After using this technique, Kyle is able to use the opposite tactics and sets his defender up to the outside (fade), only to burn him with the inside slant route for more valuable yardage. Kyle has the quickness and explosiveness needed to excel at the D1 NCAA Football level and has solidified his position thus far as the top slot receiver in the nation according to College Football Today. He has also been named to our Scout Trout All-American roster and exemplifies the standard for all student-athletes, as athletes like Kyle, who maybe do not look like they are a 5-Star recruit, actually possess far more talents than today's so-called "5-Star Recruit".
