Nathan Roy impressed me with his ability to drop the ball over the top of a defense in his film from Hurricane High School, and I was extremely impressed with Nathan's ability to step up in the face of pressure in the 2018 Scout Trout All-American Bowl. Nathan took blow after blow in the pocket and reminded me of Rocky Balboa in the way he kept getting back up and throwing vicious punches right back at his opponent. Nathan Roy was a major reason Chase Owen received his school's first ever football scholarship at West Lincoln, as Nathan was able to find the target all second half for huge gains on what would be one of the most solid defenses ever assembled by Team North. Roy has big play ability written all over him as an Elite Scout Trout Class of 2019 Early All-American Selection. He showed me in practice his ability to understand every different college style scheme that is run at the next level, along with an uncanny throwing ability that is going to be fun to watch his senior season at Hurricane. This young man not only deserves to be a 5 Star QB after his performance and grit, but he very well could be hoisting a Heisman Trophy one day, as he has all the tools you look for when operating a college style passing attack. Roy was my Class of 2019 Offensive MVP for the 2018 Scout Trout All-American Bowl, and I expect him to shred the state of West Virginia one more season before next year's Scout Trout All-American Bowl and have a large amount of schools recruiting him for his spectacular overall Quarterback skill set.
Nathan Roy comes from Hurricane High School in West Virginia and has one of the best throwing motions I have seen from the Class of 2019. On the first play of his stellar highlight's, Roy is able to unleash a 60 yard dime to his receiver in perfect stride for a touchdown! The next play reminded me of how Big Ben has been able to buy time in pocket for the Steelers, as Nathan is able to break tackles and maneuver in the pocket, to be able to make a stellar pass back to his "check down" receiver. Being able to read through your progressions is most impressive to Scout Trout and most college coaches, when you are able to find the check down route, as it keeps the chains moving! With excellent footwork in the pocket, Roy is able to deliver another strike down the sideline and exhibits stellar accuracy/timing on his throws. The next play is another deep ball, that shows Roy can really push the ball downfield accurately. When I watch how Roy operates overall, as a Class of 2019 QB, it reminds me of the 100 million dollar man Matthew Stafford, who also is a deep ball expert. The way he steps into his throws and uses his body to whip the ball off his index finger, is very pleasing to watch and the ball comes out precisely on the corner route for a touchdown, at 1:20 into his film. Roy uses great pump fakes to manipulate defenders to his liking and this opens up a huge area of the field for Roy to deliver another precise dime, that would make Trent Dilfer call out a "Dilfer Dime"! The two throws after this play, are examples of big time college throws, that Scout Trout likes to call, "Throwing you receiver open or to a designed spot", as this create's plays that are impossible to defend and Roy is able to prove that he can throw with accuracy, power and impeccable timing! Roy is very good at throwing on the run and is able to deliver darts in the short to intermediate passing game, that are on time and with zip! At around 3:00 minutes into Roy's footage, you will see how quick he gets the ball out of his hands in the 3-step passing game, as he delivers a dart, giving the defense no time to react. This young man's deep ball is further exhibited, at 3:17 into his film, as he is able to drop the ball right over perfect coverage and into his receivers bread basket. I am extremely pleased that Nathan Roy has joined the Scout Trout All-American Bowl for the Class of 2019 and will be heading to Alabama to compete with our other outstanding prospects to land on college recruiting boards for the following season. Thanks for joining the Scout Trout Militia and we will be working in Oak Hill, Ohio on Saturday!
