Jake is your prototypical linebacker with his elite 6'1, 205lb frame and knows how to use it to the max, as he can line up in many ways for the Indians on the gridiron. When talking about college football prospects versatility is always a key ingredient to being a top rated prospect and is partly why Deluccia comes in as College Football Today's 18th rated prospect overall in the nation. With outstanding overall athletics that only will improve with proper technique training and his outstanding work ethic, Jake brings a very unique skill set to a collegiate level football team. He graded out tied for first place as a nationally ranked long snapper with the Texas phenom Jared Pickens. What's more, Jake is able to get downfield extremely quickly to make bone shattering tackles. He has snapped since his freshmen season on varsity and also can be seen being used on kickoff, as his linebacker instincts are some of the best I have seen out of a class of 2020 elite student-athlete. Growing up in New Jersey myself and knowing how tough I had become from growing up in Washington Twp, I was able to overcome many obstacles from already dealing with them at a young age. Having played with and against many players from North Jersey, like Zaire Kitchen (Rutgers) and knowing what it takes to succeed at the next level, I believe Jake will be a big time contributor at the next level. Scholarships are not awarded to long snappers very often, but players like Jake, who are able to snap at an NFL level in high school, along with play at a high level on offense and defense, have a tremendous overall "upside". When evaluating an athlete's overall potential it is imperative we take an athlete's entire body of work into consideration before rankings are deemed. In the film below, you will witness Jake dominating on special teams in all facets of the game, while also delivering perfect snaps.
JAke Deluccia THe BUllDozer FullBACK
On the first play of the film below, Jake is seem bursting through the hole on the inside fullback trap and takes the ball for a 30-yard carry downfield. Jake can be seen scraping down the line of scrimmage to make the tackle on the next play and then is back to showing stellar acceleration on the next few carries. Jake has very good vision to find the hole and when watching him block on kickoff return, he has no issue flattening or turning the defender in the proper direction.
JAke FInishes PErfect Snap and is the FIRst MAn DOwnfield
What impresses me most about College Football Today's 18th ranked overall prospect is how he makes sure to finish his snap and then is the first man downfield. With the athleticism of the return men at the next level, it is crucial to match the opposition with as much speed as possible around the football. Check him flying around and making plays against Wayne Hills HS (NJ) below.
