Cameron Dupera 5'10,185LBS Class of 2019 ATH Commack HIgh School (NY) - All-American Report7/24/2018
Football is a 'what have you done for me lately' sport, which is why I love it so much. The competitiveness exhibited all summer by Cameron Dupera was unmatched at every camp he attended, and he displayed what most college coaches wanted to see more of at defensive back. When I first watched Cameron run the football on the second play of his highlights, I witnessed an explosive running back that could cut on a dime. Dupera possesses extreme acceleration and his verified 4.5 40-yard dash is very visible on tape. I had Dupera in the "ATH" category of my database from day one, as he demonstrated toughness and stated he was a stellar defensive back, as well. With his ability to play on almost every special teams unit and exhibiting the tenacity needed to excel in today's world of collegiate football in the one-on-ones posted to Dupera's Twitter account. After examining athletes globally for my Class of 2019 Top 300 and position rankings, I realized Cameron Dupera is better than many top rated PAC-12 commits and many others. He possesses that New York "To The Top" mentality and knows how to play outstanding bump and run coverage, while having the acceleration to stay with the receiver downfield. Causing this much disruption in the timing and rhythm of a offense is able to generate turnovers at the next level. Offensively, when you watch the very talented all-purpose back Sean Dollars on tape, you see many of the same characteristics that makes both these backs special prospects. When I watch more of Cameron's highlights, I am intrigued by his aggressive downhill style of running and his versatility coming out of the backfield as a receiver. His agility, vision and quick wit, make him hard to take down and he has grown to 190LBS, per his Twitter account. That being said, Dupera shows excellent closing speed in one on ones below and proves to be a very tough and physical defender. He is able to get his hands on receivers legally within the "5 yard box" to prevent the receiver from maintaining their route or sometimes any progress at all.
What to expect from 5 star Cameron Dupera this season?
If Dupera stays as hungry and determined as he has appeared all off-season. That chip on his shoulder will only grow larger, as his goal is to be one of the top prospects coming out as a overall outstanding football player. His work ethic speaks volumes to his play on the field and he is one of those players who is never satisfied and always looking to improve. Dupera will certainly be gaining points on our next S.T.E.P ratings update and moving up in the Scout Trout Top 300 prospects in the nation. So far, from what I have seen, he is the best prospect coming out of the state of N.Y in the "ATH" category and can make plays all over the field for you at the next level. His first two games of his senior year will be vital to prove to coaches nationally what all the off-season hype is about, as we get to see this hard working and diligent athlete suit up in pads this fall at Commack High School in New York! Cameron has been accepted his invite as a Scout Trout All-American and we could not be happier to have such an outstanding student-athlete, who is obviously ready to take his game to big time college football.
