top 2026 nfl draft db prospect, jalon kilgore nfl draft scouting report, top 2023 football recruit
Top 2023 WR/DB recruit Jalon Kilgore has had an outstanding start to his Sophomore season in the talent rich State of Georgia and has been excelling on both sides of the football. Kilgore plays with physicality on both sides of the football and can be witnessed coming up into the 8 man box, as a Free Safety and causing a fumble on the first play of his 4 game highlight. His disruptive style of play in the defensive backfield and excellent tackling abilities will garner the attention of college coaches nationally. As a top 2023 WR recruit, Jalon can be seen running crisp routes and easily creating separation for his brother Gerald to find him wide open downfield. Kilgore shows very good body control on the sidelines and is able to make tough catches in traffic, while exhibiting stellar overall athletics and concentration in the process. Kilgore will be moving up in the 2023 Top 400+ at College Football Today and is one of the best athletes coming out of the State of Georgia.
(Note: Jalon was ranked as a top ATH recruit and rose into the top ten nationally on College Football Today RokFin's top FB recruit rankings)

TJ QUINN NFL DRAFT SCOUTING REPORT

T.J. Quinn — NFL Draft S.T.E.P.™ Evaluation Position: Linebacker (Hybrid)
College: Louisville
Projection: NFL Draft Prospect (2026)
Total S.T.E.P. Score: 37.0 / 40

Career Context (Louisville & Early Recruiting)
From a top-ranked safety recruit in 2021 with elite physicality and tackling ability to a transitioning hybrid defender at Louisville, Quinn has:
  • Shifted from safety to linebacker while retaining physical instincts
  • Excelled in run support and alignment versatility
  • Demonstrated strong tackle production at the FBS level
  • Proven capable of taking on bigger role responsibilities
His college bio reflects both playmaking and structural football growth — the exact traits we reward in the STEP system.

S — Sustainability (9.4 / 10)
Quinn’s ability to stay impactful across multiple positions (Safety → Linebacker) is rare.
Why the high score:
  • Durable physical profile even amidst a positional shift
  • Production against multiple schemes and personnel groups
  • High tackle rates and off-ball playmaking consistency
  • Maintains aggressiveness without being reckless
NFL Translation:
Teams can trust him to stay on the field and contribute early.

T — Technique (9.0 / 10)
Technique is where Quinn gains real leverage over pure athletes:
  • Diagnoses run/pass quickly
  • Smooth pedal and flow down the line
  • Reads leverage before engaging
  • Finishes with proper tackling form
NFL Translation:
Not just a hitter — a controlled hitter. That’s NFL-level technique.

E — Execution (9.1 / 10)
Execution scores reflect game speed performance, not traits alone.
Quinn:
  • Consistently fills run lanes without hesitation
  • Matches up well with TEs and bigger receivers
  • Shows clean transitions when read-keying
  • Makes tackles in space — not just at point of contact
NFL Translation:
This is a defender who finds the ball and makes plays consistently — a huge plus at the next level.

P — Presence (9.5 / 10)
Presence — the multiplier — is where Quinn’s evaluation stands out:
  • Natural competitor with physical aura
  • Commands attention from blockers and ball-carriers alike
  • Takes on bigger assignments without hesitation
  • Presence showed early in recruiting and translated in college
NFL Translation:
Instant voice on second level; coaches trust him in clutch moments.

🧠 FINAL S.T.E.P. SCORE
Category Score
Sustainability 9.4
Technique 9.0
Execution 9.1
Presence 9.5
TOTAL 37.0 / 40
NFL Draft Projection — Pure Value Draft Window: 1st–3rd Round
Projected Role:
  • Early-down run enforcer
  • Big-slot match-up defender
  • Defensive playmaker
  • Core special teams contributor
Ceiling:
  • Three-down linebacker / hybrid box defender
  • Wears a defensive identity, not a project
Floor:
  • Immediate rotational defender with strong special teams value

Scout Trout Elite Line - “When a physical safety transforms into a linebacker with actual instincts and execution — you don’t just gain a position switcher, you gain a sustainable playmaker. That’s why Quinn’s STEP projects him as an early NFL contributor.”

STEP RATINGS

S.T.E.P. Ratings (Scout Trout Evaluation & Projection) is a proprietary analytical framework developed by Meredith “Merf” Trout to evaluate football prospects with depth, context, and projection power — not popularity or hype.
S.T.E.P. is built to answer one critical question for athletes and coaches:
“Given this player’s film, physical profile, and developmental trajectory, how likely is he to help a college roster?”
Unlike traditional recruiting rankings that often rely on offers or subjective scouting buzz, S.T.E.P. Ratings are rooted in what actually translates from high school to college and beyond

“Myles Rowser is proof that long-term evaluation beats late hype. When a player checks boxes in 2019 and still checks them years later, that’s not coincidence — that’s a draftable profile.”

CHANDLER RIVERS S.T.E.P SCORE

Chandler Rivers — 2026 NFL Draft S.T.E.P. Evaluation with Return Value
Position: Cornerback / Return Specialist
Profile Basis:
  • High STEP marks since 2022 — consistently elite traits
  • All-American pedigree
  • Multi-role weapon (defense + returns)
  • Evaluated for translation to NFL level
NFL Draft Projection: 1st–2nd Round #CB
Total S.T.E.P. Score (40 Max): 37.4 / 40

S — Sustainability — 9.3 / 10
From 2022 All-American Report:
  • Fundamental play style (not based on athletic gifts alone)
  • Consistent motor and effort patterns
  • High football IQ and position awareness
2026 Translation:
  • Durable across multiple roles (CB + return)
  • Repeatable physical load in practice and games
  • Rare injuries/adaptable intensity = strong NFL longevity
NFL Impact:
Teams can trust Rivers to stay available and compete even with year-round physical demands.

T — Technique — 9.2 / 10
From 2022:
  • Easy transition footwork
  • Turn-and-run ball tracking
  • Fluid hip transitions
  • Stance leverage vs longer opponents
2026 Projection:
  • Press coverage mechanics
  • Trail footwork at NFL receiving speeds
  • Alignment intelligence in zone and man
NFL Impact:
Technique attracts early defensive snaps and reduces development risk.

E — Execution — 9.4 / 10
From 2022:
  • Play anticipation versus route progression
  • High impact trait plays in turnovers
  • Ability to consistently stick with high-level competition
2026 Projection:
  • Strong contested catch disruption vs NFL route trees
  • Return execution remains above average
  • Proven situational awareness
NFL Impact:
Rivers doesn’t just cover — he affects outcomes on vital downs and turnover scenarios.

P — Presence — 9.5 / 10
From 2022:
  • High competitive DNA
  • Natural locker room voice
  • Plays with aggressive IQ without recklessness
Return Value + Presence:
  • Return threat adds another leadership value layer
  • Influences opponent game planning
  • Presence on special teams = more on-field value
NFL Impact:
High presence corners become defensive anchors, influence defensive playcalling, and can immediately contribute to multiple phases.

Return-Man Bonus (NFL Value Add)
While this isn’t part of the base 40 S.T.E.P., we treat Return Ability as a multiplier for draft stock:
Return Multiplier Value:
  • 0.8–1.0 = Specialist Only
  • 1.0–1.3 = Major Draft Asset (Rivers’ range)
    • Means he’s a Day-1 contributor on defense + special teams
This positions him not just as a cornerback — but as a two-phase NFL difference maker.

STEP DEFINING

Defining Your Process: The STEP Application of the Human Brain
When you finally discover your passion and decide this is where I want to be, the next step is learning how to get there. Nothing meaningful in life comes easy. Those who believe they are “owed” success often fade quickly—not because they lack talent, but because they abandon the process.
Somewhere along the way, they stop evolving. They become content. They lose the daily edge required to grow. I know this because I’ve lived it. After being around football for most of my life, there was a time when I forgot my own process. I forgot what made me great and stopped pushing myself to evolve.
Through firsthand experience—both from competing at high levels and from enduring serious concussions—I came to understand something many athletes miss entirely: the brain is the most important piece of development. You can train your body endlessly and become an athletic outlier, but if you don’t control what’s happening between your ears, you will eventually get lost—on the field or after football ends.
This is why defining your process matters. Let’s break it down using the Scout Trout Elite Prospect (STEP) framework.

S — Substance: The Foundation of the Athletic Brain
Every athlete is built differently. Each individual is made up of trillions of cells working together to create function, balance, and movement. But substance goes deeper than biology—it’s mindset, motivation, and purpose.
Motivation is the easiest mental skill to identify and the hardest to maintain. If you don’t genuinely want to put in the work, you’re chasing the wrong path. Too often I’ve seen parents dictate the entire process for their children, delaying the discovery of what truly drives them. Some athletes simply aren’t built for football—and that’s okay.
Once motivation is found, it must be protected daily. Substance means waking up every morning committed to mastering details, knowing the big moments are built on small, repeated wins.

T — Technique: How the Brain Processes the Game
Technique is not just physical—it’s neurological.
Research on the “athletic brain” shows that elite performance relies on:
  • Selective attention
  • Goal setting
  • Working memory
  • Decision making
  • Motor execution
Selective attention—the ability to react correctly when multiple stimuli occur at once—is critical in football. A running back must process defenders, angles, and timing in fractions of a second. A quarterback must compartmentalize coverage, pressure, route concepts, and protection simultaneously.
When technique breaks down mentally, the body follows. The synapses don’t fire quickly enough. The reaction is late. The result is often a hit, a turnover, or a missed opportunity.
Elite quarterbacks, kickers, and defensive leaders separate themselves because their mental technique has been trained just as intentionally as their physical mechanics.

E — Execution: Applying the Process Under Pressure
Goal setting is where most athletes fail—not because they lack ambition, but because they skip the steps. Everyone wants to be a superstar. Few are willing to build the daily process that makes that possible.
Execution is about confronting weaknesses head-on and turning them into strengths. Football is unforgiving. If you don’t address flaws, the game will expose them for you.
This is where working memory becomes essential—the ability to juggle problems, adapt, and solve in real time. A linebacker slipping a cut block, regaining balance, and defeating the next blocker isn’t just athleticism—it’s rapid neurological problem-solving.
Neuroscience confirms that perception, not memory, is often the bottleneck. The best athletes and coaches understand how to structure information so the brain can process it efficiently. That knowledge can directly influence play design, spacing, formations, and decision-making speed.
Execution is where preparation meets reality.

P — Presence: Identity, Control, and Consistency
Presence is the most overlooked trait in athlete evaluation—and one of the most predictive.
Presence is composure.
Presence is awareness.
Presence is controlling chaos rather than reacting to it.

Decision-making under pressure defines elite performers. When Aaron Rodgers drops back, his brain is processing coverage, pressure, and timing while coordinating precise motor execution. That doesn’t happen by accident—it’s trained.
The same applies to specialists like Adam Vinatieri or elite defenders who seem to “arrive” before the play unfolds. They’ve mastered a process and molded it into their identity.
Presence is what allows an athlete to perform consistently, not occasionally.

Final Thought: Master the Process, Make It Your Own

Great athletes don’t copy greatness—they study it, adapt it, and refine it into something personal. The STEP framework exists to help athletes understand where they are strong, where they are vulnerable, and how to build a sustainable path forward.
If you master:
  • Substance (why you do it),
  • Technique (how you train),
  • Execution (how you perform),
  • Presence (who you are under pressure),
you don’t just become a better football player—you become prepared for life beyond the game.
That’s the process. And it’s yours to define.

📈 Why S.T.E.P. Is Different

Most recruiting systems judge players based on:
  • Offers collected
  • Camp buzz
  • Arbitrary star labels
  • Size and speed buckets
S.T.E.P. evaluates performance and projection from the ground up, focusing on:
  • Film context: What they actually do on the field
  • Role fit: Does this player’s skill set match real schemes
  • Competitive translation: How actions against peers project upward
  • Durability & instinct: Persistence, resilience, processing
  • Position-specific criteria: Specialists, multi-role athletes, and non-traditional players
This creates a ratings profile that reflects actual on-field value, not just surface metrics.

🧠 How S.T.E.P. Works (High-Level)
S.T.E.P. is structured around four core evaluation pillars:
1️⃣ Substance (S) Assesses:
  • On-field decision-making
  • Technique execution
  • Consistency vs competition
2️⃣ Trajectory (T) Measures:
  • Growth over time
  • Response to coaching
  • Physical and mental projection
3️⃣ Effectiveness (E) Evaluates:
  • Production vs opportunity
  • Impact plays
  • Efficiency in role
4️⃣ Projection (P) Focuses on:
  • Long-term fit for college systems
  • Scheme adaptability
  • Positional value potential
These pillars are combined into a composite Scout Trout Elite Prospect Rating intended to reflect how coaches judge prospects — not how they trend on social media.
The formulas underlying S.T.E.P. are proprietary to Scout Trout Elite and not publicly disclosed. This protects the integrity of the system and prevents gaming or misuse.

🏆 Why S.T.E.P. Matters to Families & CoachesFor Families
  • Honest, realistic evaluation
  • Identification of strengths and areas for growth
  • Clear guidance on recruiting strategy
  • Better understanding of role-fit and projection
For Coaches
  • A ratings system emphasizing performance, not hype
  • A framework aligned with on-field translation
  • A tool that differentiates prospects beyond star counts
  • Scouting insights that complement existing evaluations
S.T.E.P. is not meant to replace coaches — it’s meant to speak a language coaches listen to.

🌟 How This Fits Into Scout Trout Elite

S.T.E.P. Ratings power:
  • Scouting Reports
  • Recruiting Profile Summary
  • Draft-Ready Prospect Boards (future rollout)
  • Position Archetype Analysis
  • Exposure & Projection Reports
By combining S.T.E.P. with film and data, Scout Trout Elite gives athletes actionable insight, not just a number.

📈 How S.T.E.P. Is Different
S.T.E.P. Ratings are built from years of evaluation experience and real outcomes. Rather than aggregating multiple subjective ratings, S.T.E.P. evaluates players based on film, competitive context, and role projection.
It is evidence-anchored, not popularity-driven.

RECRUITING EVALUATION BRIDGE

The STEP Recruiting Evaluation Bridge
Connecting Film, Performance, and Projection
Traditional recruiting evaluations rely heavily on rankings, camp results, or raw production. While those data points matter, they rarely explain why a player succeeds—or whether that success will translate to the next level.
The Scout Trout Elite Prospect (STEP) Recruiting Evaluation Bridge was created to solve that problem.
STEP bridges the gap between:
  • What shows up on film
  • What shows up in data
  • What shows up under pressure
And ultimately answers the most important recruiting question:
Will this athlete scale at the next level?

STEP as a Translational Model (Not a Ranking)
STEP is not just a score. It is a translation system that converts traits into projection.
College staffs don’t recruit highlights—they recruit reliability, growth potential, and role fit. STEP allows us to contextualize an athlete’s performance inside real football environments.

S — Substance (Foundation & Sustainability)
What it answers:
Can this athlete handle the process of college football?

Evaluated Through:
  • Consistency on film (snap-to-snap effort)
  • Body control, balance, durability
  • Training habits, coachability, resilience
  • Academic alignment & off-field structure
Recruiting Translation:
Substance predicts whether a prospect will survive year one, retain weight/strength gains, and stay available. High-Substance prospects tend to outperform recruiting rankings over time.

T — Technique (Skill Translation)

What it answers:
Does the athlete win correctly?

Evaluated Through:
  • Position-specific mechanics
  • Footwork efficiency
  • Hand placement / leverage / angles
  • Repeatability of movements under stress
Recruiting Translation:
Technique determines how fast a player can help a staff. Strong technique lowers developmental risk and increases early rotational value.

E — Execution (Game-Speed Application)
What it answers:
Can the athlete apply skills when the game speeds up?

Evaluated Through:
  • Situational awareness
  • Reaction time & decision-making
  • Play-to-play reliability
  • Performance against top competition
Recruiting Translation:
Execution separates “looks good” from “gets it done.” This is where STEP filters out workout warriors and elevates football players.

P — Presence (Projection Multiplier)What it answers:
Who is this athlete when things break down?

Evaluated Through:
  • Poise under pressure
  • Competitive response to adversity
  • Leadership indicators (verbal & non-verbal)
  • Role acceptance and situational confidence
Recruiting Translation:
Presence is the multiplier trait. It predicts captains, specialists who thrive in big moments, QBs who command rooms, and defenders who raise unit performance.

How STEP Bridges to College EvaluationTraditional Recruiting:
  • Stars
  • Offers
  • Camps
  • Box score
STEP Recruiting Bridge:
  • Role Fit (What will he do early?)
  • Development Curve (How fast will he grow?)
  • Risk Profile (Bust vs breakout probability)
  • Scalability (HS → College → Pro traits)
STEP allows staffs to identify:
  • Under-recruited athletes with high ceilings
  • Early contributors at Group of 5 & FCS levels
  • Power Five depth pieces who develop into starters
  • Specialists who outperform positional averages

Why STEP Produces Better Outcomes
STEP focuses on transferable traits, not temporary advantages.
That’s why STEP-rated athletes consistently:
  • Outperform recruiting rankings
  • Earn scholarships later than peers but stick longer
  • Transfer up instead of washing out
  • Show up on Sundays at higher rates than expected

Final Thought: STEP Is a Language Coaches Understand

Recruiting isn’t about hype—it’s about risk management.
STEP gives coaches a common language to evaluate:
  • What an athlete is now
  • What he can become
  • What it will take to get him there
That’s the bridge.
That’s the edge.
That’s Scout Trout Elite.

PIPELINE FOOTBALL RECRUITING

Turn Potential Into Position: The Pipeline Recruiting Program is designed for athletes who already have film, metrics, or performance data — and who are ready to elevate how they’re presented to coaches. This is not a database subscription. This is not a ranking sheet. This is a strategic recruiting path.
From my years of evaluation experience — from high school to college to professional transition — I’ve learned that visibility alone isn’t enough. What matters most is how an athlete’s abilities are framed, contextualized, and communicated to the right audiences.

TOP 2028 RB RECRUIT OMARI MURRAY

Top 2028 RB recruit Omari Murray has rapidly emerged as one of the premier names in the 2028 football recruiting class, showcasing a rare blend of athleticism, vision, and maturity well beyond his years. Already a six-time All-American, U.S. Army All-American, and two-time all-star game selection committee honoree, Murray’s résumé is as decorated as it is impressive for a sophomore. The South Florida standout — who was named to the All-South Florida Freshman Team and recognized as the top prospect at the @YouAreAthlete camp in Houston — has also entered the NIL era in style, inking a deal with Seattle Gold Grills. He is also the younger brother of Denver Nuggets shooting guard Jamal Murray, and that elite athletic pedigree is on full display every time Omari touches the football. Adding to his growing national acclaim, he is an official candidate for the prestigious Gatorade High School Football Player of the Year award.

On film, Murray stands out immediately for his patience and natural feel for the game. His ability to read blocking schemes and manipulate defenders with subtle hesitation or footwork is elite for his age. Like a young Marshall Faulk or Darren Sproles, Murray displays exceptional burst and stop-start acceleration, often making defenders miss in the open field with ease. His balance through contact and compact power allow him to churn out yardage after first hits, making him a consistent threat to turn short gains into highlight runs.

Beyond his dynamic rushing ability, Murray’s versatility as a receiver out of the backfield sets him apart from most running backs in his class. He runs crisp, purposeful routes and exhibits natural hands, making him a matchup nightmare for linebackers and safeties alike. His football IQ shines in how he anticipates defensive adjustments and exploits space with surgical precision.

Simply put, Omari Murray is a game-changing all-purpose back — a player who can alter the outcome of a contest every time he touches the ball. His blend of explosiveness, patience, and football instincts makes him arguably the most exciting offensive weapon in the nation for the 2028 cycle. At CollegeFootballNow.org, Murray currently stands as the most complete and electrifying APB (All-Purpose Back) prospect we have evaluated on tape.

Scouting notes - 2027 top DB recruit Eleu Keawe continues to elevate his standing as one of the premier defensive back prospects in his class with an outstanding season for Kapa‘a High School. Keawe finished the year with 5 interceptions, including one returned 25 yards for a touchdown, while adding 26 total tackles, 2 tackles for loss, and 7 pass breakups. His production reflects a complete, well-rounded defensive back who consistently impacts the game in multiple ways.Keawe’s film highlights his excellent closing speed and natural instincts, allowing him to break on the ball with urgency and confidence. He shows advanced recognition skills, planting his back foot decisively and exploding downhill as soon as he diagnoses route concepts and quarterback intentions. This ability routinely leads to acrobatic pass breakups and interceptions, as he arrives at the catch point with precise timing.

Building upon his initial evaluation, Keawe continues to display true ball-hawking traits, tracking the football cleanly in flight and positioning himself effectively to make plays over the top of the defense. He is technically sound in both zone and man coverage, showing patience, leverage awareness, and discipline while limiting big plays and forcing quarterbacks to hesitate. Keawe is equally effective when playing downhill against the run or short passing game. He plays with toughness, determination, and confidence near the line of scrimmage, delivering fundamentally sound tackles. His use of a rugby-style tackling technique allows him to neutralize ball carriers by eliminating leverage, making it extremely difficult for opponents to escape once contact is made.

Off the field, Keawe brings an impressive 3.9 GPA, further reinforcing his football intelligence, work ethic, and coachability. With recruiting interest continuing to grow across the college football landscape, Eleu Keawe is firmly establishing himself as one of the most complete defensive backs in the 2027 class. TOP 2027 SPECIALIST RECRUIT

2027 top punter recruit, top 2027 specialist recruit, top 2027 punter recruit, top 2027 football recruits
Scouting notes - Top 2027 Specialist recruit Reding Pruett continues to separate himself as one of the most complete and highly intriguing punting prospects in the 2027 class, pairing elite on-field production with verified camp performance that fully supports his national 4.5 star ranking. Standing 6’3” and 195 pounds, Pruett owns the prototypical build, athletic profile, and technical foundation coveted by high-academic programs and FBS/FCS special teams units alike. Ranked Top 25 nationally and No. 2 in Illinois among 2027 punters by Kohl's Kicking, Pruett has validated his evaluation with measurable, repeatable results across multiple elite specialist camps.

From a performance standpoint, Pruett’s camp data is scholarship-caliber across the board. At the NCC Specialist Camp, he recorded a highest verified NET average of 51 yards, a benchmark number that immediately places him among the upper tier of national punting prospects in his class. Across multiple charted sessions, he was consistently recorded at 4.3+ seconds of hang time, demonstrating not just raw leg strength, but the ability to combine height, trajectory, and timing—traits that translate directly to coverage success at the collegiate level. His distance ceiling is equally impressive, with a maximum recorded punt of 65+ yards, while routinely producing multiple 50+ yard punts during camp settings. These results were achieved while competing as a scholarship camp qualifier, further reinforcing the legitimacy of his metrics and long-term projection.

Mechanically, the tape and data align seamlessly. Pruett displays a clean, efficient drop, explosive hip drive through contact, and a firm, balanced plant that allows him to strike the football with precision and consistency. His ball flight is tight and efficient, producing a clean spiral that matches modern pro-style punting standards. Perhaps most notably, his handle time is excellent, allowing him to get the ball off quickly without sacrificing distance or hang time, a critical separator when projecting specialists to the next level.

As a directional punter, Pruett shows advanced command well beyond his class year. He consistently demonstrates the ability to angle the football, control roll-out, and pin opponents deep with accuracy. This “marksman” quality, paired with his power-plus profile, gives him immediate value as a field-position weapon and long-term upside as a game-controlling specialist.

Athletically, Pruett is not a one-dimensional punter. He is a legitimate two-way contributor with a tight end-type frame and functional movement skills. When aligned as a TE, he runs clean routes, tracks the ball naturally, and finishes plays through contact—clear indicators of coordination, spatial awareness, and overall football athleticism. Those traits translate directly to his consistency and ceiling as a specialist.

The pedigree further elevates the evaluation. Pruett is the younger brother of Shelby Pruett, an All-Patriot League punter at Colgate and current NFL/UFL prospect. That lineage is evident in Reding’s football IQ, preparation habits, and ability to process coaching quickly. The specialist-specific nuances—situational awareness, operation efficiency, and mental consistency—are already ingrained in his game.

Academically, Pruett further separates himself with a 4.18 GPA and a demanding course load, keeping him viable for virtually every academic profile nationwide, from Ivy-caliber institutions to Power conference programs seeking elite specialists with proven reliability.

Overall, Reding Pruett profiles as a national-level 2027 punter with verified production, elite metrics, and exceptional upside. His combination of a 51-yard NET average, consistent 4.3+ hang times, 65+ yard max distance, directional precision, athletic versatility, high academics, and proven specialist lineage make him a clear priority addition for any 2027 specialist board. With continued development, he projects as an all-conference caliber punter at the FBS or high-end FCS level and a prospect whose stock will continue to rise rapidly on the national recruiting landscape.

TOP 2027 QB RECRUIT BUCK RANDALL

2027 top football recruits, top 2027 qb recruit buck randall, top 2027 qb recruit, top 2027 football recruits
Top 2027 QB recruit Buck Randall continues to solidify himself as one of the premier signal-callers in the country, stacking elite production on top of already advanced quarterback traits. The Highland Park High School (TX) standout finished the season ranked #1 in passing yards in the state of Texas with 4,392 yards and 8th nationally, an achievement that places him firmly among the most productive quarterbacks in high school football regardless of classification. Competing in Texas 5A, Randall has proven he can thrive against high-level weekly competition while carrying an offense at a championship pace.

From a pure quarterbacking standpoint, Randall is well beyond his years athletically and mechanically. He generates exceptional transitional torque through his hips and core, allowing him to whip the football with effortless velocity and repeatable accuracy. His throwing motion is polished, compact, and explosive, enabling him to make difficult throws across his body while maintaining ball placement. Randall consistently knifes the ball through tight windows at the short and intermediate levels, showing advanced touch and timing on college-style route concepts. When forced off platform or under duress, he displays rare composure, delivering what evaluators often call “Dilfer Dimes” with remarkable consistency, even when his feet are not fully set.

Randall’s command of intermediate timing routes stands out on film. He routinely leads receivers away from leverage, placing the football into open grass to maximize yards after the catch and allow his targets to transition upfield without breaking stride. His processing speed is evident pre- and post-snap, as he identifies coverage rotations quickly and distributes the ball decisively. These traits translate directly to sustained offensive efficiency and are a major reason why his production has skyrocketed on a national scale.

While his arm talent headlines his evaluation, Randall’s dual-threat capability adds another dangerous layer to his game. He is a functional and competitive runner who can extend plays when protection breaks down and punish defenses that turn their backs in coverage. That skill set was on full display in a memorable 70–66 shootout win over Tyler High School, where Randall threw for 473 yards, rushed for 33 yards, and accounted for five total touchdowns (three passing, two rushing). In high-pressure moments, he shows toughness, situational awareness, and a willingness to put the offense on his shoulders.

Stylistically, there are elements of Randall’s game that echo the traits of elite NFL passers—particularly his ability to manipulate platforms, create throwing angles, and maintain accuracy without perfect structure. There are not many quarterbacks in the 2027 class who combine this level of arm elasticity, football IQ, and competitive edge, and his continued growth points toward a very high ceiling at the next level.

On the recruiting front, Randall already holds offers from Texas State, North Texas, and Colorado State, with strong interest from Notre Dame, SMU, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and Texas. As his national production continues to match his advanced tape, Randall is rapidly tracking toward full Power Five validation.

In summary, Buck Randall is a high-output, high-IQ quarterback with elite arm talent, functional mobility, and proven leadership in one of the most competitive football states in the country. Finishing atop Texas in passing yards while ranking among the national leaders underscores just how special his trajectory has become. With continued development, Randall projects as a Power Five quarterback capable of commanding an offense and impacting games early at the collegiate level.
