Jr season scouting notes - Top 2023 RB recruit Santana Wooten had an exhilarating season toting the rock for the Palmer Trinity offense in Miami, Florida and possesses cheetah-like speed & agility, while exhibiting uncanny ball carrier vision when motoring his way through the opposing defense. His innate ability to locate the cut-back lanes and quickly burst his way through traffic to leave defenders is the dust that will translate to an instant game-changing running back at the collegiate level. Santana proves to have the capability to stop and start on a dime, while also demonstrating the tenacious style of running needed to pick up valuable yards after contact. While working out of the Wildcat formation, Wooten is able to swiftly get downhill and does a masterful job at letting the play develop by exhibiting the patience to allow his blockers to get to their assignments, while utilizing a repertoire of power & finesse moves to move the chains. He also is a very gritty and determined runner in short yardage situations, as he keeps his legs churning when lowering his shoulder to plow through the opposition and has a brutalizing stiff arm that is able to collapse defenders. Wooten can also be witnessed coming out of the backfield as a receiving target and has very good pass catching abilities as a top 2023 RB recruit. Wooten’s outstanding junior season has already earned him an offer from the University of Marshall and I expect many more to come in the near future.
