Player notes - Top 2023 RB recruit Sheldon King is a magnificent athletic specimen at the running back position and has the combine testing numbers, as well as the exhilarating downhill style of running that will translate instantaneously to a high powered college spread style offense. After receiving the handoff, King is able to explode downhill after being able elude defenders with his uncanny agility and burst into the open field after identifying the open creases in the defensive front. He possesses the highly coveted top end speed to quickly pull away from defenders in the open field and exhibits the ball carrier vision needed to excel in a zone style running scheme, as he boasts an extremely high football IQ along with a 4.0 GPA. His overall frame and powerful downhill style of running remind me of a young Emmitt Smith in the way he is able to lower his shoulder and move the chains, as Sheldon King is most certainly one of the best running backs still available in the 2023 football recruiting class. King can also be seen using his outstanding acceleration and speed to get outside to the edge of the defense in a flash, while being able to quickly flip his shoulders up the field to deliver punishment to opposing tacklers. King checks all of the boxes when it comes to becoming a highly productive collegiate running back, as he has the ability to break a long game-changing run or physically wear down a defense over the course of four quarters as a true workhorse back.
